Voodoo Larry told me about some stuff he used to polish the origianl chrome he had on his 53 Chevy "Voodoo Kreeper" he built a few years ago. Whatever it was it was amazing. Even the pitted stuff polished up to almost perfect. Anybody have stuff they reccomend. My broke a$$ cant aford to have stuff rechromed.
Hey, Cornstarch and kerosene, rub well and polish with a soft rag. Toothpaste, the white kind, not the gel. Rub it in well, with a coarse rag, let dry and buff off powder. Works on paint, too! Swankey Devils C.C. "Meanwhile, back aboard The Tainted Pork"
Mothers works for general stuff. I even use it to polish out light scratches on plastic. Doesn't do much for deep discoloration.
You have got to be careful polishing chrome-you rub the crud right in and the chrome layer is very thin. Some time back, "Polisher" posted an offer to send out a polishing book. Lots of us have it. Also do a search for the threads he posted on. In 2007, he announced he had cancer. Hope he is still around, he's a very helpful dude. Are you, man? Here's a link to his website: http://www.englishcustompolishing.com/
If I remember correctly the stuff I saw was in a little silver tube and cost a million dollars. ring a bell to anyone?
Hate to say it, but for stuff like rusty old bicycle rims, have had decent luck with turtle wax chrome polish. It smells a lot like kerosene, so I'm guessing pimpinpaint's home solution would work real well.
The nubie knows his polish! Both Autosol and Flitz (both from Germany) put EVERYTHING else to shame. Use some of anything else and then use Autosol on the same part. You won't believe how much better it is. Those Germans know their polish
simichrome and wenol work well,,,ill have to try that flitz stuff next,,im almost out of simichrome,,,and i always like to try them all....
Blue Magic Metal Polish works amazing (for me and my wife anyways). You can get it at Kragen /CSK / or even auto zone. I only use the cream in the small tubs. Not the liquid.
