I've been using Tide it's a bit ruff but works
anybody have anything better (not as harsh)

  2. FAST Orange by Permatex. Great cleaner and doesn't destroy your skin or dry it out. Only thing I'll use in our shop

  5. If you rub in some motor oil before you start, grime will be much easier to come off.
    I like Go-jo

When I was a kid working for an old mechanic while I was in high school the old guy would mix up a tub of Tide and bleach and scrub his hands. Talk about harsh. I agree with the others Fast Orange is just about the best. The FOGGER

I guarantee you if you sneek into the kitchen and get your honey's dish washing soap Preferedly Dawn) it will not only clean your hands but make them feel as soft as a spanked baby's butt. I sometimes use a little hand brush to assist in removing the stubborn crud.

  13. Go-jo, or Fast Orange.

  14. Years ago I developed an allergy to something in many hand cleaners and my hands would break out in an itchy rash. Most of the "orange" cleaners seem to be OK now, but my current favourite is Worx All Natural Hand Cleaner. Not to sound like a tree hugger or anything sinister like that, but this stuff works for me. Originally it seemed to be available only at Lee Valley Tools (I'm in Canada eh!) but I've also seen it in some hardware stores here too. Good stuff I think.

I found out, quite by accident, that your grinders wire wheel will remove ANY stain.

Joe's hand cleaner. It takes of the grease and crap real fast. It takes off paint, glue, permatex gasket maker, and even roof repair tar (not using that on the car , fixin leaks in the house roof) My Dad used it when I was a kid, and i'll put it against any of the other stuff. Can use it with water or not. We just use rags here.

Dawn dish soap with used coffee grounds in it. The grounds scrub and the dawn collects the grease.

Best hand cleaner in the world and cheap.

I used to spray a little WD40 on my hands, which would break down the grease, then use Dawn to break down the WD40... It was quite effective. Now I use the Snapon stuff in the red metal can, pretty much the same effect, with fewer steps.

Swear by Zep MVP, use nailbrush around the nails. (females get to use dark nail polish, hides a lot :D) Use Dawn on the clothes, works every time.

Simple Green at the shop, then when I get home I use some dish soap or hand soap to finish the job.

"GOOP" cleans good and rinses off with water with no oily leftovers. Also good for dirt/grease stains in clothes. I don't like the citrus stuff ,smells like squished oranges etc.

[FONT=trebuchet ms,arial, helvetica]ICC Chemicals Hand Cleaner - I used to work in the screen printing biz and even worked for this company for a while. This stuff is designed to remove all kings of printing ink, most of which back then were petro-based; so it works REALLY well on grease.

    cheese.

think about it... you are working on your car. you go in to make a sammich and no matter what you clean your grubby hands with there will be a grease stain on the cheese when you are done.

    I use grated chedder.
