I WANT TO CHANGE THE MUFFLERS ON MY 32
    IT HAS FLOWMASTER 40S NOW
IT SOUNDS GOOD BUT NOT QUITE LOUD ENOUGH
I RUN SANDERSON JAYSTER HEADERS WITH FULL EXHAUST UNDER THE CAR
    2.5 PIPES
THE MUFFLERS R ONLY 14 IN LONG(case) SO CHOICES R FEW
I WANT A REAL DEEP AGRESSIVE SOUND ESPECALLY FROM IDLE
CAR RUNS A 415 CI WORLD PRODUCTS ENGINE WITH A LOT OF HORSEPOWER
ALSO THE TAILPIPES R SHORT 18 INCHES FROM MUFFLER
    WHATS DO THE EXPERTS RUN???

X2 on the Nunn brand. try a set of Purple Hornys, at the very least you will get a gas out of telling people you have a pair of purple hornys.

When I was 16 it was Cherry Bombs!

    Now it's Borla Stainless!

Where are you on the need to make noise vs. drivability?

Put on cutouts so you make the noise when you want attention ...and silence for when you see a cop.

step up to 3 inch pipes, makes a world of difference in sound. has that hollow throaty sound.

I fthe flowmasters arent welded in, run a long drill bit thru them to give a straight path thru the baffles, if you dont like it keep drilling. Or make up a straight pipe and bolt in place of the mufflers see if you like that better.

youve already got the mufflers, experiment. you cant get much for used mufflers

Dual QTP electric cut outs with the quietest mufflers you can find. Annoy everyone to include the neighbors and then drive 200 miles without inner ear damage

Cherry Bombs, and Blonde's with big cans... just one mans opinion

  10. Spintech mufflers have a real aggressive throaty sound. I would go with those or some Cherry Bombs.

I like the 2 chamber flowmasters... with 3 inch pipe. bends do quiet it down some..... Straight out they sound deep and throaty

  12. "Best sounding" and "muffler" don't belong in the same phrase.

I run Spintechs on my 650 hp L 88 in my 32 .They sound nasty at idle and around town driving but mellow out a little on highways

  19. Okay - this is completely OT - my apologies in advance . . . (sorry about the hijack )

This just reminded me of one of my buddies favorite sayings from 30 years ago (I know this is NOT politically correct . . . who cares):

    He always said:

"Hey man - you know what they say about Redheads don't yah??? (pause for an appropriate amount of time) . . . Fire in the Hole Boys!"

    Stupid, but I always laughed anyway . . .

Then there is one from my current partner in Business:

"I'd rather be dead . . . then have my hair red . . . like the head of an Old Dog's Dick"

Honest boys . . . I'm not making this up

Old driveshafts make good exhaust pipe and sound good...Just weld your pipe from the manifolds to a regular glasspack and slide the cut driveshaft over the glasspack end and weld around

My brother had drive shafts welded to his glass packs back in the 60"s. Sounded great until he parked the car. Then it would sit there and ting and ping for an hour or so...

  28. We Appreciate the business :D, but they are called SMITTY'S - the original Hot Rod Muffler, since the 1920's

I would just install electrically controlled cutouts after the headers. Loud when you want it, quiet when everyone else wants it.
