Tell me if this is some kind of hint of the previous owner: 6 empty bottles of Alize (in individual brown bags), a clip from a 45 (loaded), Newports in the ashtray, lottery tickets, the seats reclined all the way back................................ in a 66 Cadillac. haha

So this reminds me, my neighbor and I went to go pick up his pile from podunk to no where and the guy who owns the car says "ya can't go back there, bees every where," I say back "What do we do then?" he hands me a cable and says "Sprint back there and attach this to the nerf bar and pull it to here to load it." So we do and it works fine aside from 2 or 3 yellow jacket stings, we get the car to his house and we are so stoked we cant wait to crack the hood open/get the doors open. When I popped the hood there was a bees nest! Too many stings, then we get the door open only to find 3 or 4 big snakes, hospital visit! Since then the snakes were killed, skined and are gonna be put in his leather seats where you back goes in the seat, both the front buckets and the rear bench.
    Fun day.

  5. I bought a very clean 1 owner C10 pickup with a camper shell on the bed, it had an aux tank in there as well. when I was cleaning out the camper I found the following. it looks like the old guy was a hot rodder, had a sense of humor and didn't pay a parking ticket, check out the honor system in Brenham,TX on the ticket.

  6. Damn the upload keeps failing....Oh well I found window stickers/pit passes for all 4 days to the US Nationals in Indy from 1980, a one day marraige certificate in case he got lucky and a parking ticket that you paid using the honor system.

  7. I was working at LA Cotsa Hotel and spa when I was much younger and I was detailing the hotel's limosine and I found Buddy Hackett's girlfriend's diamond earing.
I gave it back to her and I got nothing not even a thank you. The rich can be such assholes. I shooda kept it and gave it to my wife..Mikey

18 years ago I was helping a friend cleanout a junk filled vw, when we got everything outi pulled the front portion of the rotted carpet out and under the drivers side carpet I found a single 45 round, looked at it closely and there were the names of 5 ladies carefully engraved on it,think the round is still hanging from the rear view mirror.no bs

  9. Picked up a minivan dirt cheap to flip. It looked fairly clean but had a lot of shit under the seats, including:

    About $2.50 in change
    small screwdriver
    pry bar
    hammer (a decent one, too)
    tin snips
three sockets (including one I found laying on top of the transmission when I fixed the heater lines)
    several screwdriver bits
    several allen wrenches
    two pair of safety glasses
About 1/3 of a coffee can worth of new sheetmetal screws and a few bolts and things
And in the drawer under the passenger's seat a nearly new Mother's car care set with tire shine, regular wax, clean-up wax, and a packet ot some other thing. Now I can detail it out a bit before selling it - makes up for the fast food wrappers, cups, gum wrappers, chewed gum, sunflower seeds, and other shit that was also in it.

Of course I got the car cheap (I paid like 1/20th the bluebook value on it) because of the heater lines being bad. I had it fixed up to be drivable in about two hours with $20 of stuff including the anti-freeze. So a lot of things in the car is no surprise.

A friend gave me a 51 Plymouth sedan about 5 years ago. sat in a field for 25 years. I cleaned it out to find that the frame was completely rotted out as was the floors and trunk.....BUT.....stuffed in a gunny sack and shoved up and over the rear wheel well, was a sawed off shot gun !! Gunny sack was rotten and the gun was very rusty, so it had been there for awhile. Sold the car for $200 and last winter traded the gun for a freshly rebuilt unassembled 360 mopar . :D

i bought a 64 vw bus from a guy who got it from the washington dc. area. on the left windshield was a parking sticker for the us senate, 94th congress, 2nd session. upon further investigation, i found, what appeared to be a draft card with uncle sam's name on it. what it actually was, was a rolling paper, that was disguised as a draft card.
kindof a cool thing that someone that had a senate parking sticker on their window, smoked weed, in a time where you could go to prison for possesion of weed. i just cant imagine that there was a currupt politician out there.

  13. I found a cool live grenade with pin pulled out and wedged between the air duct's under the back seat of a VW.
Back in my teenage years. My friend(at the time) called me up to come over to his place so I can help out removing part's off his newly acquired parts car.
I'm pulling the seats out quick.I had a flash light that was dimming, and slowly going out. I pulled out the bottom seat and of course I started to collect all the change on the floor.I got to the battery and said,SCORE!!!.Can I have the Die Hard battery?(Back then Die Hard's were the shit). So as I go reach to disconnect the wires.I see this grenade wedge in there.I started to cracking up(thinking it was a toy) and said,Hey!I need a wrench. My bud comes over with the wrench and looks in and asked me,WTF is that!?He's pointing at the grenade.Me clueless,A stupid toy grenade. He say's, That looks fuckin real dude!
His brother in law(military experienced) lived in the back house and called him to check it out.He got in the car and got a better look at it and said it was real and that the pin is removed also.He tells my buddy to grab a shoe lace or something similar and then tells me to fill up a bucket of water. He pulled out the grenade and wrapped it with the shoe lace to hold handle down and then put it in the bucket of water. He said, let it soak up the water over night and we will see tomorrow if it's real or not.
Next day I went back and he pulled it out of the water and started to unscrew the handle from the grenade. It was real! He poured out the wet powder and was showing me how the grenades work.He say's maybe someone set that in there with bad intent. It just had to work it self loose. There's Crazy people out there man.TRUE STORY

The coolest thing I ever found in an old car, actually found me,.. sort of.

Guy came into the shop saying he was hearing odd sounds from under the car. Even odder, he said, was that the sound seemed to be moving around under there. For a while it would be in the left rear. Then a day or so later he would hear the same sound coming from the right front.

So,... we put it on the rack, and took a look. Everything looked fine. Suspension? - check?, Drive Train? - check !, Tires? - check, and so on. No problems anywhere. I was just about to lower the car when I thought I felt something brush my head. I turned an looked, and there was a cat's paw sticking out of a hole in the frame. Sure 'nuf. It was the car owner's cat. It apparently had taken a liking to riding around inside the frame of the car, and on different days had crawled into different sides of the frame. Hence the odd sounds that were moving around. It was a very cool cat!

In 1980 I bought a 69 Mustang convertible out of Lubbock Texas and I found a dog tag. I still have it and intend to find out who it is.

In 1984 (I was 4) my cousin and I rode with my Grandparents from Missouri to California on a trip to Disneyland. After 3 days / 3 nights of driving we were eating lunch from McD's in the van and getting near the park. Since we were so excited seeing the rides, my Grandpa got distracted and ran a red light. We got t-boned and spent the week in the hospital. The van was towed to a shop where it could be pieced together enough to get back to Missouri.

When we got out of the hospital and got the van back, my Grandpa's Big Mac was right on the dash where he left it but somebody else from the shop or towing company or wherever had eaten most of it and put it back in the wrapper. :D

I bought a used F150 in 1985 and drove it for 6 years.

All the while there were things sliding around in the heater housing and every once in a while you'd here a 'ring a ting ting wack' as something contacted the proverbial heater fan as it whirled away.

It came time to change the heater motor and for that you have to pull the complete heater assembly down from under the dash.

Upon disassembly I found several live center fire Winchester 303 rounds that were scrapped and dinged up pretty good.

Can't imagine what would have happen if the squirrel cage/fan had wacked the center fire pin just right.....

I used to work in my Dads Chevron Station when I was 15, I detailed cars for him, back then we pulled the seats and washed them with foam and a scrub brush and set them in front of a fan or out in the sun,(when it comes out in Washington), I had a paper route, and back then you could get your drivers license for a motor scooter at 15, 'IF' you had a paper route. I used to put gas in the Honda c110 super sport scooter with the money I found under the seat. My Dad made me show the owner the money and offer it to them when they picked up the cars, I honestly don't remember one man that wanted the coins back, free gas money, plus I got paid for the work I did......

Not really old car stories...but still auto related...and worth a laugh...

A funny story from my boss....he worked at a shop in the early '90s...one of the other mechanics gets a late '80s Camaro owned by an attractive woman in for service...he opens up the compartments in the trunk to look for the wheel lock.....finds a big dildo....all the other mechanics come over and have a laugh...they cover the dildo in grease and put it back where it was.....hahaha lol

Years back had a late '90s Cadillac at the shop with a blown motor, a tow truck company took possession of it after two years of dealing with the owner who didn't want to pay the storage bill...a friend of ours bought it....we put a rebuilt motor in it and cleaned it out ( had a lot of junk in it) we cashed in $200 worth of unclaimed lottery scratch tickets....plus there were lots of unchecked lottery tickets that were expired....one could have been a winner....

Have a buddy who is a mechanic at a BMW dealership...as part of a oil service they have to check the air in the spare tire mounted in the floor of the trunk....he goes to check the spare in an X5...lifts the floor panel and finds the compartment full of porno mags....

Same buddy had another X5 come in....the truck was owned by a hot younger chick...who's occupation was questionable (had a stripper quality to her)....the back trunk had a plastic organizer container with drawers full of panties, thongs and costumes....occupation wasn't questionable anymore....

In my '49 F-1, I found a tow strap that I later used to tow it home with, a tool kit, cig butts, blown fuses and light bulbs, general trash.

My '61 Comet had a few neat pieces...it had all the missing trim pieces in the trunk that was locked. Of course the guy lost the keys...so I had a friend slide into the trunk and pop it open. There was the driveshaft and the original steering wheel. Right next to it was the very common porn mag.
