I've ALWAYS used radial tire tubes in drag slicks; just not going to pay almost as much for a tube as the cost of the tire. I've never had any trouble doing this, but I'm sure I'll hear about all about it. BUT, I can't tell you what the differences are between the two. By the way, have you ever gotten around to using the Saginaw 3-speed with overdrive trans, and the Saginaw 4-speed (actually just threw that in N/C) I sold you some time back? Just curious. Don't know the difference, but I've been told you can run a radial tube in a bias tire but not a bias tube in a radial tire. So you shouldn't have a problem.
It's on the backbuner, i was having problems with my 4 speed, the cluster was stuck togather somehow, the rig i planned to run it in got a standard t-10 because of clearance issues, but i'm thinking it'd be nice in my new daily, 65 el camino. All that is on hold right now since i bought a house and i'm still trying to make my shop workable It does look as easy as it sounded tho, one hole needed and it should bolt togather
When ordering 4.50/4.75x 16" bias ply tires and tubes from 'Coker Tire', they always come with radial tubes...
I don't have any answers for ya ****gy,but I run anything that will hold air.ive never care what it was as long as it didn't leak and the valve fit the hole.and ive run my cars at some insane speeds. but now that you brought it up I gotta find out!!!
i orderes four tubes from universal tire for my bias ply tires and they said radial tube on them i emailed them and they said that there the ones to use for my wheel and tire combo so i think your fine
It's been at least 40 years, but back then I had some radials tubes and the most obvious difference was the thickness of the tube material. It felt at least twice as thick as the standard tube material and, of course, weighed considerably more. Ray
