Good Morning all Aim trying to order parts for my truck and i need to know how do you tell the difference between a early model A & a late model A aim trying to order the right parts the first time around------------it's a 1931 pick up truck. Thanks Joe
28-29 pick-ups were about the same. 30 and early 31 pick-ups had narrow beds that were curved at the bottom, tops had the cloth top, and the firewall was flat. In mid 31 they made some changes in preparation for next year. These changes include a wider square bottom bed, a metal roof and a firewall that had a teardrop indentation at the fuel shut-off. These changes took place slowly and not all trucks got all the changes. If the truck is the one in the avatar it appears to have a wide bed, but the cloth top.
Thanks Reds that told the story i got the rag top with the flat fire wall & the indentation rectangle Thanks again lots of help Joe
My '31 has a soft top. The changes took place over time depending on where it was built. I have not heard of any solid top '30 pick-ups, but it's possible, maybe one of the first ones.
My 30...........soft top, narrow bed. 28-29 have a vertical character line at the cowl that sweeps forward at the bottom. 30-31 has plain cowl sides. 28-29 has a shorter radiator shell while 30-31 has a larger shell.
