Press Release - Accord Speedway Vintage Modifieds

ACCORD SPEEDWAY TO ADD VINTAGE MODIFIED DIVISION

ACCORD, NY December 30, 2022 — For the 2023 season, Accord Speedway is proud to announce the addition of a new Vintage Racing class. The series will run twice a month.

In an effort to preserve dirt racing history and offer a unique entertainment opportunity for the community, Accord has teamed up with vintage modified drivers and owners to form the Accord Speedway Vintage Modifieds which will debut as a branded class/series at Accord Speedway starting in 2023. This new series has already drawn interest from veterans in the sport, seasoned, existing and younger fans alike wanting to support the sounds, sights and racing of yesteryear.

"Since 1962, Accord Speedway has welcomed thousands of race fans to experience once-in-a-lifetime thrills at the venue, creating numerous racing heroes and classic moments" said Gary Palmer, Accord President/Owner. “By adding the Vintage Modified series at Accord, our goal is to continue this tradition by providing a safe and competitive vintage racing series that will allow families to have fun, relive the past, and preserve history for the youth of our sport. Through our vintage showcase and the promotions around it, we'll create new memories of days gone by that will last a lifetime,” added Palmer.

Interest in Vintage racing is surging around the country and New York's Hudson Valley is no exception. This brand of racing has proved to be popular among the public, new and old fans alike due to its' unique/individual footprint that comes from the formative days of dirt racing itself. In a modern world, the Vintage phenomenon offers a colorful tactile experience, with a wide variety of set ups, motors, and body styles to create a truly nostalgic race day which is not to be missed.

The schedule will be comprised of bi-monthly races throughout the inaugural 2023

  2. Sometimes Hot Rods re purpose Racecar parts. And then I resold the rolling chassis to be used in vintage racing. I may not even clean the dirt( former Penn National) off the engine. It is a Corvette or Camaro 327 block.
