The HAMB has taught me the true meaning of Christmas......and left my hair soft and managable.

    :)

    Tolerant........

The Hamb has made me more tolerant of other people's rides and other people's way of doing things.

I see some projects here I would not haul home for them......... :) But KNOW that someone just loves them to death, and admire their talent and dedication.

    Diverse...
The Hamb has widened my appeciation of most things mechanical......
    ____________

And I find I rarely buy magazines off the rack anymore....I find all the inspiration and knowledge I need here.......

    Thanks RYAN.......

My name is Orange Crate, and I'm a H.A.M.B.er .....

Finally a place where the thoughts that run through my head don't get stange looks when I explain them to people> And, I don't get asked why would you want to do that?

The HAMB has reaffirmed my belief that nobody really likes me, and no matter how hard I try to fit in, it just doesn't work. It has also shown me that my spelling is really bad....

  7. I'm supposed to say something smart here.

I guess its helped me maintain my sanity, granted sanity is a realitive term.

I became disabled a couple of years ago. Spell that un-employed and un-employable. I was bummed, almost saw Ryan at a car show and said to myself,"self why don't you check out the HAMB."

I remember thinking this place blows, I should fit right in. Well I don't fit in but no one seems to care.:D
Truth is that I've made some really good friends here, and I don't take friendship lightly. I probably come closer to fitting in here than any place else in my entire life.

I'm still disabled but I know that I can come here (where ever here is) and don't have to be alone. Good folks here, no other way to say it.

I'v learned that when your doing jello-shots after Autorama and out of the corner of your eye you see what appears to be a naked dude knocking on the door holding a gym bag in front of their junk. It is a good idea to follow your instinct and go in the fridge for another beer because that WAS a naked guy holding a gym bag in front of his junk, and you are the only one who recognized what was happening before that gym bag hit the floor.

(sorry I forgot the name of the offending streaker)

Other than that I've met a lot of really cool people made some really good friends and learned that the faster I finish school, the sooner I can get a real job and get something accomplished on my coupe.

The HAMB has made my whites white, and my brights bright. Not alot of message boards can do that.

And RF- If the HAMB truly does give what you put in...well...I feel bad for you.. ha ha ha

I have learned a shitload here on the HAMB... I learned NOT to call my truck a ratrod. That was my first post here saying I have a ratrod... haha yeah I admit it.... I learned that SBC's not cool. I bought 50% of my trucks parts from the HAMB. I also spent so mu time reading tech posts when I should have been working it's not funny. I have learned that when Germ is not posting the hamb feels bland. I have learned so much about traditional hotrodding in the year n a half I have posted here it's sick. I still don't know SHIT. Ryan is the man and I have to thank all of the people who have helped me and sold me stuff thru here...

and a HAMBER sent me this self portrait... some people are so strange.... name and handle withheld.

    thanks and keep it alive...

I have met abunch of Douche bags on here, I think you stay at home to much

The HAMB has allowed me to meet some great guys (including above) and gals and many have become like family to me. (you guys in PA and NY know who you are...)

learned a few things about traditional hotrods also along the way.

Completely reshaped my ideas of what it would take to build a hot rod.

Discovered this place and within the space of a few weeks I went from looking at the ads for a "stage three" chassis and wondering how I could manage to scrape up a couple of grand to dragging a battered A frame from a field for fifty bucks.

The moment I started asking questions here I knew I was on my way - and flamingAboner was the first guy to step up and offer his help.

  19. Rob...WHY do you always manage to conjure up the worst of my memories?!?!?

Actually...I've gotten quite a bit from the HAMB.
Hopefully without sounding like a shmuck....when I first started coming around here the board was more about late-night bullshitting with a few serious "How do I...?" questions thrown in...but it made me realize that even when "mainstream" hotrodding was lame and boring there was at least still a handfull of unbelievably talented people who cared about its past and didn't seem to give a shit about its billet wheeled nuclear sperm painted future.
Little did any of us know I guess.

Its also made the world a much smaller place it seems.
I could be wrong but I have this feeling that wherever I go I know I can get in touch with another "HAMB'er" and relive old times we never had together.
Except Bugman of course....no one likes him. :D

Of course, my door is open to any HAMB'er in return.

If your still awake through this solilquy...I'll hit you with one more thought.
Its also made me realize that people aren't all bad.
In fact, relative strangers can do the nicest things.....particularly Zeke, AHotRod (I HOPE I got his screen name right...its Glenn in FL) Surfarinut and BobK.....they've all hit me with "Random acts of kindness".

    Ok...I'm done....wake up.

It's given me a complex about owning a four door, having a cd player, and tinting my windows:rolleyes:
On the positive side, I've met incredibly cool people, been to cool concerts and car shows and learned basically all I know about traditional rods and kustoms from this site.
So what, are ya'll gonna start charging now or somethin'?:D

My life would not be the same if it weren't for HAMB.

I firmly believe that I wouldn't have had the confidence to buy a car in the poor shape mine was in, and get it moving down the road. I hit alot of road blocks and the answers I got from you guys helped keep me motivated that I could get it running.

It's also been a place of relief from school... note stress relief good, up all night with homework bad. The interesting thing is I was first introduced to the board as a freshman too.... I can't imagine the things I probably would have been doing instead.

I too have found that when I relocated this summer that the first people to greet me were HAMBers. And contrary to popular belief have been the best tour guides to showing me the city.

Thank you to all the people who make this place what it is!

  22. They told me it was a surefire way for an old guy from a small town, like me to meet chicks......so far this is the only one I met and its a BIG Gay HE chick..... THIS PLACE=is not at all what I was expectin'.........

    straight up,,its like this,,,

before i found the Hamb,,in 97-98 or so i was wanting to build an old style car so bad,,(ive always had a strong passion for the old ways)a lil black primer later on a few cars..,,and then HRD came out at the same time i found my 56 in '99 and then i primered it off blue, painted the wheels red and had WWW's on it....it was HEAVEN,,it was my daily driver for almost a year not owning any other car,.,,i still didnt even have a computer ,,,this went on for a few years,,,i actually was starting to SWAY to the gay hot rod ways,as funny as it may seem, untill one day at work about 2001 i was bored and decide to look for a link i had seen in HRD years before and found the HAMB...

my life has never been the same since that day...:D

ALSO,,,growing up when i came of driving age,,,,,i would look through the classifieds and see RUNNING FINISHED BUILT model A hot rods for 8-10 grand and 32-34's for 15 grand and think,,daymn,,,(that was in the late 80's),i ALWAYS thought i would never be able to own a real hot rod.....WHEN i FOUND the HAMB,,,i realized that ANYHTING can be acomplished if you reallly want it bad enuff!!!!!!!

haha me too. its also taught me i really want a channeled model A sedan.

  26. The HAMB reaffirmed me in my belief that I'm not the only one with a hotrod obsession.

  27. Had the support to promote my photography to more than 'just a hobby'...

    Found my car.....

Found similar minded folk in the area to hang out with...I moved to the Bay Area a little over 2 years ago, from London & left all my car friends behind, I can honestly say that were it not for this place, I would still be in hot rod limbo...

    Learned a lot....

    Laughed a lot....

When my Dad was diagnosed with cancer last year, I posted a message on here, and literally hundreds of fellow HAMB'ers posted messages of support....5 short weeks later, he passed away, I had messages, PM's, emails & phone calls from ALL OVER THE WORLD offering sympathy and support...Its a BIG family & the support is awesome.

Thank you to everyone on here for everything.

The HAMB, exposed a primary resource literally just down the road. Tman and Gene, I like dropping by there shop. The further I stay off the rez the less odds of me getting into trouble, so for that I'm thankful.

The SamIAm post about using the mind changed my thinking. I want to try harder to transcend walls as opposed to building them.

    Ho Huh HAMB!
