I've "seen" three in my whole life. This is the only one I've held in my hands. And it's MINE. NOS from a guys attic in Penna.

A Latham for sure, and a 1957 Pontiac fuel injection setup.

  7. Most of the stuff I'm listing is stuff I want or have but I'm not trying to inflate the value of my stash :D - it's really the rare stuff that I'm interested in.

Halibrand stuff: Culver City V8 qc's, 18" magnesium wheels (any style, smoothies, dimpled 5's), Lobster calipers.

Firestone stuff: Grooved Rear tires (originals) in most sizes especially the 18's, Ribbed fronts (see Grooved Rears)

The standby's - Arduns, Offys, Kinmonts, S.C.O.T.s, Scott tops for 97's, Potvin setups (and other obscure blowers like lathams, etc.), 8 carb alloy intakes for just about any engine, Ford high clearance wheels.

Hmmmm....I've got a set of original 1953 sharp finned aluminum heads...anyone else have a set? Only a few thousand pairs made, and I don't know how many are left...the best part is they haven't been used for 52 years, and they're going on the forty this spring!

i agree with the Kinmonts if your main consideration is the hyperbole, presumed mystique and price factor vs. actual functionality associated with them. most who've owned a set admit they don't work all that well.

more suggestions, (original stuff, not repop)... Adams-Moeller rocker-arm heads for flathead (marketed thru C-T), Riley s.o.h.c v8 engine (essentially a redesign of the flathead, using only the ford crankshaft and rods), D.O. conversions for B/C Ford (Miller/Cragar, HAL, etc.), HAL connecting rods, 12-port Jimmy stuff (Howards, Fisher and Wayne), Four-port Cook (Cyclone), Rileys and Fargo ohv conversions for B/C Ford, Winfield stuff, Rajo and Frontenac T stuff, S.C.O.T. blowers, Meyer/Drake/Offy/Miller stuff, Navarro, Evans and Eddie Meyer flathead stuff, Knudsen ohv conversion for Ford flathead six, Elco (not Eelco) Twin-Plug heads for v8 flathead ford, Lee Chapel "Tornado", Alexander and Riley ohv conversions for v8 flathead Ford, Spalding ignition, Harman & Collins cams and ignition, Kong Jackson equipment, Tom Beatty blower drives, Cragar multi-v-belt blower drive stuff, Algon injection for anything, odd-powerplant Hilborn injection setups, Cyclone and Warren quick-change center sections, oh boy...it could go on and on.

I have an early X-Shift transmission. Only the second one I have ever seen. Bought pretty cheap but needs some gears replaced-(already have them but not installed yet.) It is hard to say what is the most rare, so many items were produced at such a small quantity for each engine or vehicle that each has its own 'holy grail'.factory experimental stuff, early production items (factory and aftermarket) that were redesigned due to flaws etc...
I have quite a few interesting items for Nailheads and a few for other applications, but a Flathead guy could care less about the Nailhead stuff and vice-versus.
15k for kinmonts doesn't seem out of line these days-the last set I saw for sale (complete) was about 10 years ago and they were 4k then. The price was not negotiable. Ardun stuff is very desirable but not as rare as some might think. I know of three or four motors in the north east in running cars-very desirable but not extremely rare.

  14. Oh yeah, forgot these - how about drag wheels that were made in as limited a number as 150 pairs? The old 2-piece 16x10 ETIII's - arguably the rarest desirable vintage alloy wheels out there.

Those aren't Cadillac FLATHEAD motors in those ebay auctions. Those are Cadillac OHV Motors.

    These are cadillac flatheads:

i had a pair. traded them to dave from roadsters.com for a set of American Racing 4 spoke "Standards" in 15 x 8. they are exactly what i was looking for and are some pretty rare wheels themselves. i also had a set of 12 spoke American magnesium spindle-mounts in 15 x 3 1/2 i sold back in 2002

Is that your Cadillac flathead in that youtube video? Unless that is some kind of "special" caddy flatty, Intake #2 is for your motor. Its Just like this one from this thread.

I prefer the Ford variation of the Flathead myself, but I have to admit, the caddy Flatty Is one of the neatest lookin' motors all dressed up of all time.

MEL aluminum valve covers, one of the many non-Ardun flathead OHV conversions pictured in American Hot Rod, a 35-36 Ford roadster body I can afford (been looking since '73), an 8x2 Edelbrock for a 392, and most of what everyone else has listed. I did have an Algon bugcatcher injection w/pump on a 6-71 early Olds a few years ago (came in a 55 F100) and traded the engine for my 30 coupe, so there is one in Denver somewhere.

  24. Let me see....
    Ardun heads
    '39 Lesalle tranny
    quick change rearends
    Scott blower(flatty)
    '32-'34 Pick-up doors
    steel '32 3w Coupe body

According to the TRJ #37 article the family of Albert Gonsalves (Algon) still has many of the patterns, so someone needs to step up and start reproduction...NOW!
