IMHO; I love TRJ but the big problem is that when you subscribed you made a contract with TRJ in this case. In writing it states that for the dollar amount of the subscription you choose & pay for up front TRJ will produce & send you 4 magazines per year. TRJ is not holding up to their part of the contract. We are into 2025 11 months & I think that I have received 1 copy for 2025. I do look forward to every copy though!

You're right. I recieved #86 back in June 2024. We are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of #87 now 17 months later.

What exactly did you receive from them in 2025?

we were always able to buy RJ from our local Newsagent/Bookshop for about A$24
this ceased in 2020 .As we visit USA yearly I made contact with Tina at Autobook shop Burbank CA who saved one for me No 85 $15.99. No86 I had Tina post it to my friend in Anaheim and paid a small mail cost, we knew No87 was
coming due so made contact with Tina who told me she had not heard from RJ but would contact me on its arrival.
Our 2 months in USA this year we did not hear from Tina so came home without it.At the Yamba Rod Run a
good mate advised that he had just bought No87 from Gavin, so off I went. Gavin told me he was surprised when the boxes showed with the books, said he had not been charged yet for them, our exchange rate is .64 to buy US dollars

.....Spoke just yesterday with the nice lady at Autobooks-Aerobooks. She indicated that they have yet to receive their allotment of #87.

Thanks to the heads up Jimmy B posted, I purchased #87 from the local distributor.

I was an early subscriber, but dropped it when the now closed local distributor got them in well before I ever received my subscription issue.
just to give you guys an insight into buying magazines out here, the last issue of Hop Up Magazine cost me $100aud, as I had to purchase it from an American distributor.
I only buy 2 magazines, TRJ and HU, which is just as well.

When you subscribe to a magazine, the subscription includes the magazine and shipping. These two elements are the reason your have decided to purchase a subscription. This includes the continuous of the magazine as stated at when you made the payment. Well................? We've been conned, not for one year, not for one or two or three issues. Definitely conned.

While I am a lifetime subscriber (not the wisest move for a publisher) I did not signup for an annual, I signed for 4 issues a year. While it'll never happen it could be construed as a Breach Of Contract and open to a cl*** action lawsuit filed by all subscribers who would join it. I've never read the fine print but I would imagine that's covered. All THIS ******** ASIDE, I JUST WANT MY ****IN BOOK!

mgermca, you got me over a barrel there. I was going from memory as I currently have no issues of TRJ to reflect back on. I had a house fire on Memorial Day 2025 & lost everything. House, garage, cars, tooling, ect all gone. I believe the last issue that I have received was #86. I do not have the exact date that I received it, but I believe that it was early 2025. Maybe it was in 2024. The point is that everyone that subscribed did so in good faith under the agreement that TRJ would produce 4 issues per year of the subscription length of time agreement. I know that I have not received any since sometime before May 2025.

...Have you ever seen the results of a cl***-action lawsuit? Lawyers pocket 99% of any settlement and the plaintiffs split the rest, in this case, you might get your subscription cost back (doubtful), more likely $1.98. Besides, if Steve were floating in money, he might actually be able to hire a staff, do the printing, ***embling and shipping in house like the BIG magazines that have gone out of business. The Rodder's Journal is basically a one man operation with a bit of help from a very few. I'm as disappointed as everyone else (lifetime subscriber) as to all of the bumps that have happened along this road but, all of the complaining isn't going to get a magazine to anyone's mailbox any sooner.

    940. Just spouting off. I like Steve, he put my chopped yellow 32 5 window on the cover of Street Rodder in the late 70's or maybe it was a Hot Rod Center, I can't remember. He'll be fine with my lifetime, I'm 80 so won't need many more. Struggle? I was in the hot rod ch***is business for over 40 years and survived.

I think some of the folks on here need to start their own magazine. Put out about 85 issues and let us know how its going.

I wish people would stop this type of nonsense. This has nothing to do with the success of the magazine. Lots have gone under. It happens. No one wants to see him fail. But and its a big but it's the constant lies that customers are told that are the issue. Tell the truth and people wouldn't be as upset. Not being upfront about lead times when you take new subscriptions. His entire business practice has turned into deceive customers for as long as he can to try and collect enough money to continue. I for one won't support a business that treats its customers like ****. Don't care how good the product is.

You might be missing the point.

If a "lifetime subscription" has been paid for, the future promised four issues per year have already been purchased. The fault now lies squarely at the feet of the publisher. They have failed to deliver their side of the contracted agreement.

Offering lifetime subscriptions was a very bad and ill-considered business move, and was likely a kneejerk reaction to try and patch an already sinking ship.

I was told in an email that I would have an issue within a month. That was over a year ago. I have been swindled out of my hard earned money. Wasnt the first time but it definitely makes me wont to trust people less....sad.

@lothiandon1940 I don’t believe any of our beloved car magazines went out of business as a result of poor decisions or financial difficulties, they chose to cease publication when they experienced poor circulation numbers and reduced advertising.
Initially TRJ issues came along in a quarterly manner but then they came less so. Since publication started in Fall of 1994 there should have been 124 issues but here we are waiting for #87. We’re almost six months overdue from receiving a YEARLY issue and unless publication goes back to four yearly issues TRJ doesn’t qualify for the reduced USPS Periodicals Rate. I think he has to send by Media Mail and that starts at $4.47 for one pound and issue #87 weighs 1lb. 7oz. exclusive of the cardboard envelope. This is a recipe for disaster with no chance of survival.

Well RJ still owes me quite a few issues for the money I have given them. When and if the next issue shows up I will be happy and enjoy it just like I have 86 other times. If it never shows up my life will go on and I won't declare bankruptcy for the money I am out. None of us, me included know what is really going on. If someone does they haven't shared it here. The nonstop *****ing on here hasn't solved one thing. I've been ripped off by bigger publishers who put out inferior monthly magazines and I survived just like I will if RJ never puts out another issue.

It is hard to take that cold, hard, mercenary look at your disintegrating p***ion and dream. You do something like offer lifetime subscriptions for a cash infusion, waiting for tomorrow's miracle, then end up having to produce future product at inflated costs with dollars already spent.

I was just trying to get a reaction about the lawsuit, I know something like that would never happen.

Some seem to get offensive about there Life Time , Seem to be many Feel they have Received Their $$ worth over the years , Then there is other that feel they have Not Received Zero to Few issues . Myself prior to become a lifetime member /subscriber ,I would pick issues up at the local bookstore , I did not know or maybe the $$ @ time to become a
L-T subscriber , I do not know what year it was There was a Thread or Adverti*****t for L-T offered here on
HAMB , it was a Auction I believe or Limited offer to 50 or so ? Between such & such time to bid on or buy , I can not remember year & how much I paid ,
I am thinking around 350 might of been
Little more or Less . I am not for sure
If TRJ was still in Ca or after being relocated to Va , Now in Md witch the office Address is around 50-70 air miles away .
So not knowing the Year I started my
L-T or the amount I payed I can not say I received my $$ worth # of issues I Recived.
My issue is as long as it's still TRJ Company or Inc , the lack of custmer service ,No response to many emails
Over last few years , & the existing customers overlooked,
& No updates Posted bi weekly or
Monthly here or by email .
There are store's @ end of my road that I will not stop @ Drive a few miles futher away , I guess I see it as the $$ still in my pocket I spend it @ place that appreciates the business @ least by there actions .
I wonder if TRJ is going to have a
Space @ PRI with #87 & 88 in few weeks , I plain to attend.
If TRJ is there I will try to get my Issues
#87 & if 88 if there & have Not received in the mail by then .
