3,303 miles from Idaho to Tulsa, OK and back last June, in my '50 Plymouth with my 8 year old son, over 9 days.

Had so much fun I'm doing another week long roadtrip again this year with my younest son. An annual father/son road trip will be a family tradition for us from now on...

Wife and I drove our blown 33 Vicky round trip WV to OKC (last time SR Nats was there...'95 maybe). Folks around here thought we were nuts to drive a blower car on a trip... heck... it's just an air pump! Found out she really liked to run about 93mph across MO. Anyway, met this really nice little couple about 85 years old crossing MO - the old man said he used to have one just like that "except I don't remember the windshield being that small".... well... you had one sorta like this one, but not quite! He had a blast sitting in that chopped top blower car....one of the best parts of drivin' 'em.

  3. About 1 1/2 ft in 2 months!!!! Is this a record as I feel that I couldnt do it again until I get wheels under it.

Not in miles but the longest for me was Pomona to Phoenix in a 59 El Camino with a 348 (no air) in late August. 115 degrees, drive 20 minutes, stop, let cool for 30 minutes, add water go for another 20. Longest day drive I ever had.

I drove from NJ to San Diego via Route 66 as much as I could, then up to LA to join up with the Hot Rod Power Tour, then to Detroit, and finally back to Jersey.....Twice!! About 7500 miles roundtrip each time. Not one failure, breakdown, mishap either time.

For those of you who know Jim Krous, that man has put more miles on his Deuce roadster going from NJ to Cali multiple times, and all over the USofA than anyone I know of!

Then I get to see my car on My Cl***ic Car this past Sunday!

  10. Not sure if I would have the record or not but, I have made two road trips exceeding 10,000 miles.

Trip 1 was the entire month of October in '93. Car was a primer '70 455 GTO ht. 10,500 miles with a friend. It was a blast but parts were a bit rushed.

Last fall I made my best trip yet. 10,800 miles by myself in a pretty '72 GTO with 455HO engine. Pulled a trailer the whole way too. I left in mid Sept and got home in early Nov. Almost 2 months on the road with my GTO. I have had the car for 25 years and put over 200,000 on it. The current motor I built in 2000 and has 151,000 miles on it.
Being on the road in a vintage car is just wonderful. This last trip had a gas bill of just over 4 grand. I took my time, visited friends, made new ones, hit museums and visired family. I covered, NM, TX, OK, AR, TN, KY, OH,PA, NY, Long Island, NJ, RI, VA, VW,MI, IN, IL, MO, KS. Many states I was in 2 or 3 times. I zig zagged back and forth.

I cannot tell you how much fun it was. The fall is the best time of year to hit the road.

I can;t wait to do it again. I have covered 47 of the continental US and parts of Canada in my Pontiacs.

Sad thing is, I saw very few vintage cars or trucks, on the road.

2 weeks back I drove her close to 2,500 miles all over Az and Ca. covered the Bakersfield March Meet, Sacremento, San Francisco, LA, etc. It is a pleasure to drive.

L.A. to Neligh, NE (1500 miles.) Under the sun and some rain, top down all but 20 minutes of the trip. I ran into a couple Hot Rodders on their way to Americruize in Lincoln While g***ing up in Colorado . Gas nozzle freaked out on me and sprayed petrol all over my car and a few bushles of brand new peaches in the back seat. What a ride! Good thing I don't smoke...

Well, we can't come close to anyone else on here. Our roadster has no room for even a small overnight bag, and there's no way to lock it up in a motel parking lot at night so it's pretty much limited to whatever we can do out and back in one day.

When we still lived in San Diego we drove it up to the L.A. Roadster Show and back on both Saturday and again on Sunday, about 125 miles one way = 500 miles for the weekend.

Back in my wasted youth I drove my '57 Chevy from San Diego up to the S.F. Bay Area for a Cl***ic Chevy Club show. We had just built a 350 for it and fired the engine for the first time on Wednesday night, and left for the show on Friday morning. The old radiator that had been cooling the worn out 283 just couldn't deal with a fresh, tight 350 and started puking just north of L.A. It hurled rusty water all over my freshly painted and detailed engine compartment. After that we had to stop every 40-50 miles to let it cool down again. What should've been a 9 hour trip took almost 18 hours. After the show we drove back home at night and had no problems.

We love road trips and whatever our next project car is, it will have room for luggage, be lockable, and rock solid dependable.

I drive my cars everywhere. Longest single trip to a show was from indy to the HAMB drags in my roadster. Little over 1100 miles and made 2 p***es down the 1/4 mile. :D Just picked up our new little plymouth valiant too and drove it home from Lemon Grove, CA. Little over 2300 miles. What's the point if you can't drive em.

FWIW we made the trip to Phoenix and back, somewhere between 3500 and 4000 miles (kinda hard to account for some of the meanderings without an odometer).

Met Elmo Roge and Jangleguy, Pops and I had a good time.

I drove my '62 Pontiac Catalina 2-door sedan from Flemington, NJ to Los Angeles, CA...2,840 miles. A couple of years later, I did the same trip in a '70 GTO convertible. A couple of years after that I drove my '74 Pontiac Ventura from Los Angeles, CA to Birmingham, AL and onto Flemington, NJ...2,968 miles. Then my little sister and I Greyhounded it from New Jersey to LA, picked up my GTO and drove that back to Flemington, NJ for another 2,800 mile run.

The run out to LA in the GTO was a solo p*** as was the LA to Birmingham to NJ run in the Ventura.

Don't know if it counts, but I once rode my '47 cycle from Osaka to Hiroshima and back in the snow.
Otherwise, I've driven my '62 ute 40 miles to work and back 6 days a week in traffic for the last 3 years.
