Show a pic of the General Lee to random peeps at the mall...then do the same with any other car listed here, Batmobile, Munsters, etc...and the GL wins...

Every tom, dick and harry...young and old...knows the General Lee.

Not a "custom" in our sense of the the word here...but it ain't a fucking STOCk car...and if it ain't stock then it must be custom....

Hey 'cheese, that too is another element...Kustom. Those who are of the mindset openly accept it being spelled with a K. Another unspoken thing about em. I'd bet a lot of kustom guys routinely call their powerplants motors without a speck of concern nor disdain. Same/same.

Ok, so if you take 'random peeps' to the grocery store and ask them to point out a pomegranate, but none of them know what a pomegranate looks like, so they all point to apples - Does that mean that apples are now pomegranates?

If you ask them what is the most famous fighter plane, and they say a 747, then you just have to accept that they don't know much about planes. It don't mean you go and fly the fucker into battle.

It doesn't matter how many people recognize the General Lee or the Munster Coach, it still isn't an f'n Kustom.

Yer right.....it all depends on WHO ya ask......
The Hirohata Merc, or any other car we "worship" here, ain't famous in the grand scheme of things....:p

  11. Well put Cleatus!!! And you are absolutely right that Kustoms get no respect.

The OP asked a board of people who should know better and not even put shit like the General Lee into the conversation.

It's not like he went on Facebook and asked the question. The last time I looked this was still the HAMB and it still was about Hot Rods AND Kustoms.

If someone had asked what the most famous hot rod was and someone put down the General Lee all hell would have broke loose.

    Serious car guys: Hirohata Mercury

Less serious car guy: Cadzilla or is it Kadzilla?

Most every day people: Some movie car, probably Bat Mobile or some other fantastical car.

The rest: Fast and furious, one of them... pick a car...

    Dear GNRS 2011 promoter
It seems that there is great amount of disagreement as to what is or is not a custom or should I say Kustom? The public seem quite passionate and sometime even hostile in re-
guards to this matter. What is this smell? Yes, the sweet smell of opportunity! For the low investment of some chain link and few wastling mats you could construct a UFC style
Octagon. (maybe some of those rat rod fellows could weld her up for you). Then for a Five dollar entry fee we can see who the best. Hirohata vs. Cadzilla. Batmoblie vs. Munstermoblie (please try and get grampa's coffin dragster that one badass ride) and of course the General Lee vs. Everybody. NOW You got a show! Please remember if use my idea I require 2 seat front row where I can get sparks and hot lead on me. All questions will be answered at The 1st annual Kustom smack down!

    Sincerely yours, Luis

From your list only the Hirohata Merc and Cadzilla qualify as Custom or Kustom Car.
The others are NOT considered to be a Custom or Kustom Car. End of Story!
