Well Bluto, I guess it would have to be my 69 HEMI Road Runner, bought it new in 68. Second would be my 90 Porsche Cararra all wheel drive. From there the run of the mill Hot Rods. But then you know that, I know other one offs you have but I'll let spring those. HA HA.--TV

1968 427 Strato Chief, (I bought it new and still have it). This is documented by GM Canada as 1 of 5. 1968 Beaumont SD, 1 of 292, 350 hrs. (I have this one too),documented by GM Canada. 1970 Laurentian LS4, 454 cu. in. (sold it), and 1969 COPO Chevelle, 427 cu. in., 425 hrs. purchased from B & A Chevrolet in Toronto (sold it)

  6. Even though mine was a clone, the parts are pretty rare.

It was a 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst convertible (not mine shown).

Only 501 originals made and only two were known to be convertibles.

I just sold the fiberglass pieces this year for what I paid for the car when I was 17.

For me it's my 64 Impala SS 409 convertible. Fully loaded, and I mean fully loaded. The car has options and accessories some people have never even heard of. I also have a RHD 64 Impala convertible and an ex-government 64 Impala 9 passenger wagon with some cool Police car features. These cars I will never sell, I've sold too many cars that I wish I would have kept. Some of them are: my high school 64 Impala SS convertible, and my 54 Volkswagen beetle that I converted to RHD. I remmember hitting the swap meets and shows in England every chance I got to find all the RHD coversion parts. Lots of cool stories and memories with these two cars. Should have kept them.

If only to frustrate Bluto some more...none of the following are cars that I've owned...but they all have family connections.

Sounds familiar - my Dad bought a fire engine a couple yrs ago for ~$3000. Sold (donated?) the truck for ~$2000+ minus the bell. Those things are pricey when they aren't connected to an old fire engine!

My Dad's '58 is sitting in our garage waiting for the brakes to get done. Funny, it's been waiting for the brakes to get done for 5+yrs. I think he thinks they might just get up and fix themselves if he leaves it long enough...:(

Oh, and someone mentioned a Kissle:eek:?! Wedding present (on loan for one yr) to a good family friend. It was a 1911 - biggest flywheel I've ever seen. That is one fun car! We actually got chased by a fellow in his minivan so he could videotape the car. Some really cool noises came out of that car - the exhaust whistle was the coolest.

My Mom's '63 Stude Avanti...my grandfather's Duesenberg dual cowl phaeton that he sold in the 1950s:eek::(! Doubled his money.....but he sold a Duesy! *pulling hair out* Oh well....

My own '67 Barracuda - rare in that it was the only one being driven to my high school in the last decade...:D

My Rarest car really isn't "on topic"... But seeing as everyone else is posting 60's/70's muscle,

I had a 1976 Trans Am 6.6 Gold Hurst Edition, it commemorated the 50th anniversary of pontiac. It had gold trim every where, A gold hood bird, gold honeycomb rims, and gold headligh trim. A shaker hood and ORIGINAL Hurst t-tops and Hurst shifter.... After I rebuilt the top end several times after years of abusive use I sold it for what I thought was a profit... untill a couple of months later when I came across some info that told me it was worth 15,000 to 30,000 depending on it's condition ! And that was 11 years ago.

So yeah needless to say I wish I still had it...

    Mike

BTW, When I owned that car I was 17-19 years old and had the world all figured out (like all kids do). That was also the FASTEST car I ever owned! It would get sideways at 60/70 mph if I nailed it on the freeway. One time I did a burn out for so long going sideways down an industial street that I blew my tires, I'm not proud of it but I also outran a chp on a motorbike in that car!! I was an idiot when I was young..:(

  18. I've owned four fairly rare cars , all street legal . One was a K-2 Cad-Allard , a Peerless GT Coupes and an Elva Formula Jr . In fact the Allard was our only car for about a year . If you look at the photo on my profile you'll see my Daimler Ferret MK 2/3 Armored Scout Car , also street legal gun turret et al .

My first car was a 66 Fairlane GT convertible with a 4 speed. I have not seen one like it since so there can't be many like that around. One of the cars I own now is a 1970 4 speed, Stage 1 GSX, one of 120 Stage 1, 4 speed GSX's ever built.

'57 Chevy Handyman wagon; 2 door, with sliding back windows. 'Paid all of $40 for it in 1970. It was stick 6 and needed a battery & carb. It had a perfect body with just a few rust spots in the floor. I had to sell it since I was going into Navy and had no place to keep it. I sold it to a neighbor kid who put in a 327 and promptly wrecked it.

well, mine is off topic, and it was actually my moms car when i was a kid. We had a 83 camaro, with a 5sp auto in it. Supposedly that transmission was never built, but we had one. Sold to someone in about 89, and i beleive they wrecked it. I would love to find out what the tranny really was tho. even the dealership mechanics said "yup, its a 5 speed, thats weird..." anyone ever run into another one? i guess its really only the tranny thats rare, but since it was factory, i would say guilty by association. other than that, my 40 ford coupe. so not too rare there....

For me, it was a '59 Eldorado Seville. Persian Sand (a funky dusty rose color) w/ parchment vinyl top. Seemed really cool at the time, now seems kinda tasteless.

  24. Rarest car?

    How about a panel van....

this is my 1937 Austin Cambridge 10/4 as I found it in 1993 (still have it stashed away.....next years project finally!)

By all research I have done over the years it may very well be the
    "only survivor of its type!"

My 1957 Chrysler New Yorker 2dr hardtop.

It's not particularly rare in that it's one of 8863 made. But not many of them are this rust-free and solid fifty years later. ;) It's also loaded as it can be, has A/C and all the power options, stereo, etc. Pretty neat car, I'm glad to have it.
