1963 Nova SS Convertible. First year for Super Sports and last year for Converibles. The original owner special ordered it with 5 lug wheels and 3.55 gears. Which both weren't available till 1964. It has all the correct SS equipment, floor console, hub caps, dash clock, padded dash, bumber gaurds front and rear. And it's bone stock down to the tires.

My '96 Caprice 9C1 (cop car) daily driver. It's actually more rare than my '64 El Camino.

  5. I had a 1966 Bonneville ragtop with a 389, Tri-Power AND air conditioning...yeah, I know, that combo allegedly wasn't available! I owned the car in 1976. Found out years later it was one of only 13...

Had a '69 Dodge Dart GTS 440 car with front disc brakes, even though the disc option was not officially available. Of the 635 440 cars built, it was the only known documented disc brake 440 car. Of course, the knucklehead who bought the car from me in '89 was firmly convinced it was not original, even though I had spoken with the ORIGINAL owner, who verified it was indeed a disc car, and the fool put DRUMS on the front!

I still own a '54 Triumph TR2. Serial # TS-1203-LO. The first 1200 cars have some subtle differences that make 'em pretty rare...

In winter 1968 in Chicago..I bought a used '66 "Royal Pontiac" or "Royal Oaks" crs..GTO.. This was a dealer in Mich..like Nickey Chev in Chi..that made dealer ordered or dealer modified specials..if any one remembers them.
Called a "Tiger or Bobcat" option I think..
This one was a 421HO with the Tri-Power with the Ram Air SX package added..Scoop and bowl...4:11 ass..4spd..headers..
It carried the standard GTO 389 badging except for the "Royal Oaks Pontiac" name on the left rear...and the license plate trim.
Yeah..yeah..a cheater...It was the only way to keep up with those dam 396/375 Chevelles..

Loved that black goat..thin red lines..black in/out...and a convertible..! Man..I felt like King Dick..awesome times..!

If ya' gonna cheat on the street..do it in a rag top..

holy fuck, it's a town sedan! About the only pictures you can find online are from the original brochures. The first cosmopolitan i ever saw was a 50 town sedan. I tried to look for one when i was on the market, but all i could find was the sedan. Keep us posted on the project.

Yep, you had a military car.
The "no radio" and strange holes in the dash were the clues.

The headers were made by Duog Thourley [sp?] and were stainless steel. They would have been installed by the military as part of a standard upgrade somewhere around 1972-1973.

Asked my Dad about it. He was involved with all that black-magic voo-doo military stuff, and he was a hotrodder, so he remembers it all pretty well.

They came in 4 colors. White and Red were used by Nasa and the Air-Force. Light blue was Air-force only, and O.D. Green was Army. All of them were BB-4sp cars. 66-69 was 396. 70 got the LS6-454. Starting in '71, the most powerfull BB Chevy could offer was the LS5 which was not near as fast as the earlier cars, so the military began "upgrading" older models. That's where the stainless headers came from. The engine would have most likely been rebuilt at that time also, and the 4sp was probably replaced with a brand new one.

You know how the gooberment just loves spending $$$, and the elky's got the golden treatment... I'll bet it was fast!

My first car, a 1950 Buick special convertable. I've never seen another one since I sold it in 1961. I've seen some cherried out Road Master convertables but never a Special. What a bomb!!!!:D It was gun metal gray with a white top and red leather interior. If any of you guys have pics of one of these old beasts I sure would appreciate it if you posted them.

  13. Out back, stuffed into my garage, I have a real odd-ball rare Pontiac.
    I'm the 3rd owner of a 1969 Firebird '400' hardtop with a factory installed 3 speed stick!
It's also got tint, power steering and power brakes, AM pushbutton, and dual outside mirrors, and a H.D. suspension.
Get this............it's got only 38,000 miles and the original protect- o- plate.
I even have the original Wisconsin title as the past 2 owners never registered the Firebird.
Never any paint work, original interior and original the rest of the way around.
The rear shocks , 4 tires and the water pump are the only changed out parts on this thing.
I've had other rare odd balls but never have I owned a time capsule like this one.
This will probably be a keeper for the rest of my life!

The rarest car I had , I'm still in morning for as it was stolen in broad daylight from my driveway . I had a 1935 Citroen Traction Avant 11cv faux cabriolet . I just made a beater little hotrod out of it as there was no running gear , or interior when I got it but I just got her ready for registration when she was taken . I dont have any pics ( ever since I take pics of my cars a lot ) but here is a old one from the Avant web site .

    COOL!
well i wish i would have known that than, but as a stupid kid i would have still sold it.
and yes it was fuckin crazy fast. I used to take it racing and blow some doors off every now and than. it stunned a few people that were not expecting it do perform the way it did. no i dont have a time slip, because it wasnt that important to me back than. And yes i did have to put some weight over the rear axle or it would just burn off the tires. I built a box between the rear wheel wells and put sand bags in it. But I really did that in the begining for winter traction.
sure was a fun ride. makes me wonder how the original owner got the car.

  16. 1970 T/A Challenger 340 6-pack 4-speed. Plumcrazy purple. Wished I would have kept that one. I bought it in 1988 for $300. I put another $200 in her and drover her for about a two years and sold her for $1000. Fully restored today would bring around $80K.

    Oh well young and dumb.

I had a 1995 1/2 Jeep Wrangler YJ. Only made from November 1995 to December 1995. Not sure of the numbers, has to be low. It had a lot of prototype parts that were similar to the TJ (which came out in May 1996) like the windshield bumpers on the hood (same as the TJ). TJ power steering pump. Had different tailgate hinges, not like the YJs and similar to the TJs. Even had parts for the future TJ as well. Traded it even for my 56 I have now. I still miss her from time to time.

'34 Pierce-Arrow 836A...it's a basketcase but I saved it from death by rust, the crusher, or being parted out by someone who doesn't care enough to save it. They were only made during '34 and mine (from the numbers I found) is the 31st to last out of the factory.

    Now with a pic!
    34 pierce.jpg
Gameplan is to restore it to original specs, parts supply and money permitting...

Early on this thread I stated that in high school I had a 69 Boss 429 KK1776. To further torture myself I am posting this picture of me from 1977 and the car that was sold for $6,000. I will be going off line now to bang my head on the wall and cry!!.

who imported trans ams into Australia? Certainly Holden never has.
Do you mean dealers as in specialty importers?
If you can find an Australian assembled Pontiac (only Parisennes though I think) they're a bit special as they used Holden underpinnings I think and have a different track to their US made brothers.

Pierce Arrow's are great cars. I wish you the best of luck as this looks like an ambitious project.

I had a 66 Chevy II Super Sport with a straight six cylinder engine. I never saw another one but not sure if it's rare or not.

I assumed that the SS option was as much badges 'n chrome as it was engine/performance options as my other SS Nova was as one would expect.......
