I hate you got rid of it, I had one that came from an impound lot. Mine was red. Parts were easy though it was all fiat mechanically.

I had this '76 Pontiac LeMans Sport with factory 5-speed. There were less than 20 manual transmission LeMans' built in '76 and some of them were 3-speeds. I was unable to find out what the split was but it was a rare machine to be sure. I sold it to buy my '53 Pontiac.

    65 Dodge 330 4 door factory 383 MAG 4 speed
66 Fury wagon 383 2 bbl 4 speed (my best friend still has it)
71 RT CHallenger last 71 RT built (according to Galen) yellow 383 auto with 2 fender tags highly optioned including power windows. I parted it ! It was minus motor and trans and no one would give me $3000 (10 years ago) for it and the parts were worth more than I could get for the roller!

Towards the end of high school I had a 58 Chevy 2 door Yeoman wagon. Didn't know how few were made. When I was 19 I intentionally blew the chevy up so I could buy a new MG. when going after the MG I stoped at a dealer and fell inlove and ended up buying a 6 month old 64 GTO 389 3-2's. First year car, it was registered as a Pontiac Tempest LeMans on the title. I got mine just as the 65 models were comming out.

I own (parts of) a '32 Ford roadster pickup. The cowl is the best shape original unrestored '32 part I have ever owned. I think around 450 of them built in '32.

But, it will take a LOT of work before you could call it a car/truck again.

A 1937 Chev convert that I had to sell to pay bills when Dad died and a few 48 DeSoto Suburbans (139.5" wheelbase, 3 seats, fake wood interior). A tiny Mondial 50 motorcycle, a 1954 GMC COE w/4wheel drive, and a 39 Indian Junior Scout. Now I'm finding that the rarest things are those in good original condition, regardless of production numbers.

Not super rare but the rarest I have owned was a 1970 Nova SS 396/350HP, 4 speed with bucket seats. Of the 1300 or so '70 396's built the 350 HP with 4 speed and buckets was the lowest production. The 375 HP with TH 400 and bench was the most common. Wish I had kept it, the guy I sold it to cut it up and made a Pro Gas car out of it back in the 80's.

I know, I just thought it was funny...

When I think "Rare Car" I honestly think of you first and then Jay Lenno...

And I wouldn't even think of Jay if I hadn't whitnessed part of one of his Duesy restorations...

So for me, it's kind of like the Louvre asking about rare paintings...:D

always good to see more Stutz guys out there.

  18. Lets see...

66 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport Convertable - 1200 Parisiennes made in total that year! How many were triple black convertables with a 327-275hp engine?

66' Pontaic GTO vert' - 389 Tripower with a powerglide and 2.56 gears. White with a black interior and top. Whoever ordered it must have done lots of highway cruising. Needed everything - sold it. It still needs everything and I have seen it on ebay twice for 4 times what I sold it for.

68' Dart GTS vert' - 340 4 spd, with a bench seat in triple green - again needed everything but never should have sold it. 1 of a few hundred built, but was special ordered with the bench since GTS's came with buckets and console as part of the package. Never seen another bench seat GTS vert - probally 1 of 1.

68' Pontiac 2+2 with a factory 427-4spd, and 3.31 geared posi 12 bolt. Completely rusted and was pulled from behind a barn. Guy gave me 10 times what I paid for it the next day. Another canada only car and rare to begin with - how many of these full size suckers came with 427-390hp engines and a M21 four speed?

80' Camaro Z28 - white with gold tri color stripes and a fawn interior, T-tops, 4 spd, posi car built for canada. 1 of 8 documented by GM. This one I will be selling real soon.

I am looking at a 57' Pontiac 2 dr post right now that is a canadian car. Factory 283 powerpack car. Built originally on a complete 57' chevy frame and chassis, with chevy running gear.

They aren't rare by your standards, but my '67 Camaro is one of 1453 built with 396 and automatic transmission. But it has column shift and a bench seat which narrows it down a little. And my '24 Dodge Brothers coupe is one of 18 known left with a Fisher body.

my, my we are funny today. ;)

as I recall, you too once owned a Stutz of rather dubious levels of tuning. :D

any way I make no excuses for the legions of antique car owners who are in all reality just that, rather then learning to operate the machine at hand.

as memory serves there was a stutz on a recent HCCA tour which the owner could not quite figure how to start...

It was a long time ago, but I had a 1964 Falcon Sprint convertable...factory 260 V8 with a 4 speed. It was Marina blue metallic (or something like that) with a matching blue interior and a White top. In 1977 when I bought it, it had 32K miles on it....ahhh the good old days

Seeing that the question is "what is the rarest car you have ever owned" not Have you ever owned a rare car? I will respond with a 1965 Rambler Marlin. 327 AMC V8, Flash o matic (borg warner) automatic, Twin Grip diff, and reclining bucket seats. 14 pounds of bondo in the rear quarters, and a nasty green repaint. AM and FM, front disc brakes with 4 piston calipers. Lord, I had the world by the ass. Oh, it also had a holley four barrel with the secondaries wired shut by the previous owner.
