Am I seeing things or is the lower bracket on this generator bolted to the top of the frame rail?

Ok i have to ask... How the fuck to do people manage to stay so ignorant and the people around em so neglectful that they wind up producing shit like the the pictures above?? What in gods name is going on in this world, where the hell is the common sense??????? I hope that if you guys personally seen this stuff you gave the owners a bit of a nudge to tell em they need some fixin other wise they might be road kill on their next drive...

  20. gee and i thought home made doors flat steel with angle iron on top for strength, garden latch doors and hinges. apparently the 35 Chevy masters sedan body was attached to a huge horsepower motor and fat slicks in the back. i believe them when they said it just sat there shaking. or shaking down the road

At the drag races one day, the car I was racing against in time trials lost his steering. He managed to stop it without hitting anything. I looked at it when they brought it to the pits, and the Ujoint in the steering, a 1/2" Craftsman universal socket, had broken one of the pins, falling apart. Later that morning he made another pass. I went to see how he fixed it, and they had stuck a nail in the hole, and bent it over so it didn't fall out. I made sure I didn't line up against him.

Next season, first race, I see the car, check it out for changes over the winter. new bigger engine, NOS, new trans, and that damn nail still stuck in the Craftsman joint steering it. And he passed tech!

Another time I saw a 57 chevy, with a Caddy 390 in it. The front engine mount, was a 2x4 laid across the valve covers, chained to the exhaust manifolds, and lag screwed into the inner fenders.

  25. I see this thing every year at the Noccalula Falls show in Gadsden AL (looks like where this photo may have been taken). It's scary but far from the scariest thing I ever saw. Wish I had photos of a '32 Chevy coupe I saw about 10 years ago at a show in Maryland. The guy said it was "under construction"--it was fenderless, body was secured to the frame only by two bolts, one on each side, at the cowl. No floors, guy drove with left foot resting on crossmember. Gas pedal was high on the firewall and the guy had to rest his heel on top of the transmission to get his foot on the gas. But that was not the scariest thing. The back half of the body was held up by FOUR CONCRETE BLOCKS! He had a 2x10 laid across the frame, two 12" concrete blocks stacked on each side. The panel between the rear window and the trunk lid was resting on top of the concrete blocks. That was all that was keeping the back of the body off the ground. I told the guy that if he wrecked the thing and killed himself and/or some other people, that's just the kind of horror story that fires up the people who would like to legislate us and our cars off the road. I offered to help him put some floors in it and get the body mounted securely to the frame. He looked at me like I had three heads.
