I know where there's a cool BBC 2x4 tunnel ram manifold with "Weiand Say Why-And" on it and was just wondering what the history is on these pieces. How early they are or how long any products with this marking were made? How rare? '60s Weiand history... Thanks, -Dean
A google search for "history of weiand" will yield this: http://www.holley.com/Corporate/History.asp?Division=Weiand
I've been trying to find out about the Team G Super Ram 2x4 made by Weiand. I picked one up for the SBC but can't find anything about this manifold anyplace. They are shorter in height than the Edelbrock and look like an older style intake that'll look cool as hell on the 55 when I get it there. Even the website doesn't include the Super Ram so I don't know if it was a short run on these cause they didn't work well or what
i don't know exact years, but the stuff with the say why-and logo would be made approx 1959/60 to about 67 or 68. rough guesses here, based on mag ads etc. obviously BBC parts would come in at the later half of that period. beyond that, i don't know much. but i dig the stuff. still looking for a set of sbc valve covers with the say why-and logo. hint hint.
Phil Weiand put the "say why-and " to help people pronounce his name correctly...some would say Wee-and..Thats what thats all about... After Phils death, his wife,Joan, ran the company till she sold to Holley
That last year that the Weiand "Say-Why-And" star logo appears on anything, valve covers, intake manifolds, and timing covers in a Weiand Speed Equipment catalog, is 1970.
