i have recently procured a 1929 whippet frame with front and rear axles and springs. i hate to see anything like this destroyed (especially since my great grandpa most likely sold this car new). i was curious about the hotrod potential of these components. the rear axle looks quite beefy for that time. front axle and set up looks pretty straight forward and simple as well. i guess what i'm getting at are there any known defects or weaknesses****ociated with these parts. i will not crush or destroy this stuff for any reason, just want to know what kind of fun can be had (safely) with them. thinking of building a modified style run a bout, can the front axle handle the weight of a sbc? thanks in advance.

  2. Well that's going to need tires hahaha
But after that should make a nice hot rod out of that starting point.
If its solid I'd do it.

yeah, i also have to unbolt the hitch and get the cattle panels off of it. i love your car 31vicky! that thing is amazing. just got to thinking i've got a 151 chevy 4 laying here and a 181 kit for it. i think it will be the way to go on this project. i can't find anything about these rear axles.

  4. You know that front axle looks later than 29 to me. But I'm just guessing.
Post some pics of the rear axle might be something different .

Get some close ups of both and post a help ID thread for them. One for each.

Thanks, that's a concept , but its well on its way to that.
There's some pics in my " help Vicky door hinge " thread
