Guy I know has this old coupe. He was going to junk it. I said don't do that I can sell it for you for more than you can get junking it. But I'm not sure what years it is. Thanks Brian Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes I missed it by a few years. I was thinking it was a 39-40 but I'm thinking they had a 2 piece rear window. Yes the trim would almost be worth as much as the car. Thanks Brian Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The business coupe had short doors, the same door as the front doors from a four door sedan; the tudor sedan and club coupe used the longer doors so the difference would be about 8". That's a long door body. Different roof shape at rear where it extends to meet trunk.
Unless he has the title and front clip, I'd say it's a parts car, which is better than junking it. Roof walked on and getting that pushed back passenger quarter back into a straight door jamb would be a chore.
The rear brakes alone are worth more than what he'd get in scrap these days. Price that thing reasonably as a project/parts car and you'll move it. Coupes are always desirable. They can push that roof up and shrink it or replace it (yes, a bit of a chore, but not your problem). I wouldn't worry about a title, just sell with a Bill of Sale. The buyer can deal with that themselves as they wish. IL appears to have a bonded title system: http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/fulltext.asp?DocName=062500050K3-109
