Been cruising around in my vicky and thinking I really need to rebuild the steering box. Dad said he had on in the garage that came out of his model a so I went to go get it hoping for an easy swap out. But when I found it, its nothing like what I have at all so im wondering what the heck is it and can i make it work?
'37-48 Ford, from what I can see. They differ by length of shaft and lock placement, but all the same in the box.
^^^^Yep. Those work great in a Model A, either as a cross steer (my preference), or as a side steer. What kind of box is in it now?
My model a still has the original box in it, still has the original upholstery for that matter.. Dads model a was traded off about 35 years ago (he's 71) and doesn't remember but thinks he used a truck steering box. There's a long story about dad, his model a, and me winding up with the vicky I have now.
That's cool. My dad and I also have a long history of Model A ownership. We both still have the hot rods we drove to high school. He's 72.
His model a probably had an F1 or F100 box. the inards are the same but the box is different. Truck comes out the side and yours comes out the bottom.
