From my understanding the knight engine was a horrible oil burning, smoking monstrosity, so you spend 4 times more than it's worth to restore a crappy engined car that you might get to drive in a couple of parades a year if it will run at all? I say hotrod it and have something you can enjoy and if that bothers your conscience then trade it off for something different and more common.

  4. I shit old fool rodz, update.......cars are back in storage, safe for awhile. Just scored another rare one, but lack the savy to be able to down size for this format(use phone camera for speed) I'll save it for part two of whats to be done with this

  5. Well, if the club thinks it should be a giveaway - they're the experts. So it's not hurting anything to make it into an enjoyable car. Personally, I like the way it looks. No, it won't be a hot rod, but cleaned up with a late drivetrain and suspension it's liable to be worth twice what a restored original is for a fraction of the cost. You'll have that gangster car angle to play on, hang a couple tommy guns on it and put some of those cheesy bullet hole decals on it when you're done. Probably be able to rent it out as much as you want to. And if the club guys crap their pants over it, tell them they had their chance and decided it wasn't worth a damn.

One of 5 means thats how many people are aware of. There's probably at least as many more out there, just that the only people aware of them are the owners and they may not even know what they have. In this case that's still not a lot, but I'm sure it's more than enough that all the guys in the world with a major hardon for one, can own one, and have 3 or 4 left over.

I went through something like this with the Kaiser club. Had a couple of '54's for sale for my friend. Not great but enough to build one and a pile of spares, used and NOS parts loaded in both cars to the gills. Came right from the dealer who got them and never sold them from new. One had the factory wires with caps all around. Guy wanted to offer $400 for the pair. The damn wheels were worth that alone, and I could have had them crushed and got $300 for the cars. The asking on them was $2,000 and I'm sure you could do that parting them out pretty easily. Ended up swapping those and a running manual trans one to a guy he knew who was into them for a late model car worth about $3000. Kaiser club didn't get squat out of it and I haven't touched one since.

Now a '56 Caddy convertible (mentioned in one of the responses above) is another story. That, I'd say sell the convert and buy a coupe or sedan if you want to cut it up bigtime. When the rough convertible will easily sell for enough money that you could buy an older driver sedan, that's the way to go. I know where I can get a '55 4dr that still could be made into somehting for $300 and a '56 with a crappy body that does run for like $2500/best. Ultimately I think money wise you'll be ahead even if you use a 70's top frame on it to make it a ragtop, and in the end it's that much more impressive because that's more things to add to the list of modifications.

    1) Have it compressed into a small cube.
    2) Get a small box.
    3) Place small cube and title in box.
    4) Ship to Stearns club.

  7. LMAO.....Crease, now that's an idea! ;)
