    landst,
sorry for the rant man, it wasn't directed toward you at all. I'm glad to hear you do your own thing that awesome. That's the way it should be. I just sometimes get tired of reading where guys say it's trendy or beat on other people's stuff. I know you didn't mean it like that. I guess it just came out in this thread from me. Man, I apologize for the way I expressed it earlier I guess I was having a ***** moment myself!
Anyways as I stated mine is gold cause that's the way I found it!

I think we need a nailhead fold out. Gold or other wise.
    Gold goes with EVERYTHING.

gold may very well be the new flat black but i don't think the rednecks will be painting their car gold "cause it looks ****in tuff man!"

so as I can avoid that I will take my gold engine and love it.

    that said guys,
there is a reason you use silver under candy gold...

  10. Whatever the engine color was, when it came from the Factory. I don't particularly care for the Aluminum color of my Hemi's, but that's what they get painted. Valve covers and accessories are chrome, polished aluminum, etc.....

The simple fact is, without a doubt, every possible color (as evidence by the pink motor) has been used to paint engines, cars, frames, etc. If you look at it this way, there is no way to be "original" anymore. So at some point you have to say, who the **** cares if this is the trend today, my engine will still be this color in 10, 15, 20 years. If everyone got wrapped up in not doing things because they were trendy, then anti-conformity becomes conformity. Simply put, do what you think looks great to you.

I've been painting my engines gold for years, just liked the way it looked. Plus, the motor is the "heart" of the vehicle and if I'm putting this much time and money into a ride, she better have a heart of gold!!!

That's funny stuff. My avatar a while back was the mugshot from Mugshots.com of a dude that got nailed huffing silver paint. His mouth looked like Ronald McDonald in silver!!

The motor in my son's truck is gold. It came that way and I was thrilled to find gold engine paint at NAPA when we changed the heads and intake. We like it and that's all that matters!

And if it's a Toro' engine for some reason it's blue....Why is Olds so confusing? It took me 2 days to actually figure out what color my 425 was supposed to be...and I'm still lost on the air cleaner, mainly because I don't think an orange 'cleaner with red engine would look right...

Why? because I like it and I figured it would give somebody on the HAMB something to whine about.

Well............... My car is Maroon and the only colors I could think of were Silver or Gold. I have a bunch of aluminum performance parts and they would have been lost in the silver. So............................ I painted it GOLD!

  30. Maybe we could start a new trend or have it be a HAMBers code engine color. Paint your next engine copper or calf **** yellow. Gun metal gray. 80 bottles of Testors model paint oughta do the trick.
