Whats up with Wooden Garnish Moldings?

    In a group of stuff I acquired over the weekend I have 4 Garnish moldings that are wood grain finish and they are actually made of wood. See attached pics . Any Idea what these are for?

  2. i worked on a rolls royce years ago that had wood garnish mouldings.
     
  3. Ford had several cars that had wood grained dashes and garnish moldings.

    I usually thing European cars when I see wooden garnish moldings. HRP

    Dad's 50 chevy wagon has real wood garnish moulding

    If you don't have any, I suspect wood would be an easier material to form them from scratch with then metal would be. Gene

    Yes, lots of Jags had wood garnish moldings back in the 50's, and even early 60's.

    For a low production run, wooden (pun) it be easier to make them from a tree rather than to try to pound them from metal?

    Thanks for the idea of making wooden garnish mouldings for my coupe. I do not think I will ever find any originals.

    An old friend ran a cabinet and furniture refinish shop. All of the window moldings on his 35 Chevy were hand made from black walnut timber. The final finish was awesome.

  19. A buddy is working in a 1932 Franklin... it has beautiful real wood garnish moldings.
