With that particular batch of cars/trucks I'd say that there was nothing wrong with you if you have a plan to go with them. All highly desirable rigs in my book. Now if you are 87years old and use a walker there may be a slight issue with getting them all squared away and done in a timely manner.

I've still got the disease but at 62 I am a lot more picky about my list of future projects than I was at 32. I see myself finishing the 48, building the little early two seat racer style roadster and doing the A-V8 with the flattie in the garage and then figuring out which one I want to drive where from then on.
I've already to sell off a couple of the later model rigs and do a few things different than I had planned a few years ago.

  2. I'm a piker as far as how many cars/project.
    Just my 40 Merc
    One O/T hot ricer.
    '63 Buick.....401 nailhead.
28-29 Roadster PU(still in my head)

Even if I had unlimited funds and resources (think Leno) I'd still want cool old cars,
Rods, customs, muscle cars, one of a kinds and hand/self built stuff
Maybe an old Ferrari or Jag just because they are cool.
Could car less about the most expensive or latest Bemmer or Benz.
I suppose Jay is who we would be if we had his money.

If I hadn't hunted and gathered the old tin in my younger days (teens and twenties), I could not afford to get into this hobby now in my older days (forties). Hunt and gather while you can. You want to be the ant, not the grasshopper. You can always sell what you decide not to use.

  6. Guess I shouldn't mention the '52 or '53 Chevy panel I saw north of Lapeer,MI this past Sunday...PM me if interested,I'll try to remember exactly where it sat.

Hotrodladycrusr, interesting that you mention "Apple Pie";a dearly departed friend made some of the tastiest and most potent A-P I've ever encountered. It only came out at a Labor Day weekend brain cell destruction marathon known as "State Of Mind",and wrecked a few minds. RIP,Frank;I miss you and your Apple Pie.

Other than bad breath, a hard head and a stinking ass you sound normal to me. When I retired and built a 32x48 building w/ 12 ft. ceiling, a lift, heat, water , t.v. phone, x/m radio and a bath room my wife said we were official rednecks because we had a garage bigger than our house. I told it should have been that way when we were married 40 yrs. ago. So go for it and don't wait until your ready to die.

My biggest problem is it's more fun to want something than it is to have it. So I have 3 and spend all my time looking for another one.

if you can afford them, and have a place to keep them and not piss anyone off, get as many as you want.

    I know I do....

'40 Plymouth business coupe and an opera coupe parts car.
Needs to be finished, been sitting for many years.
O/T race car, needs motor freshened, new radiator and a few minor things, sitting a couple years.
47 Chrysler, this was bought to relight the fire. Got it back down on fresh wheels and rubber today!
a couple daily drivers that need a couple minor things to make me even happier.

To those with females that question the reason for this personality quirk, explain it's the male equivilent of the female need to coo over babies of any type and to nurture sick things.

I have the same sickness, but have you noticed on the reverse side...if you ever talk about selling something you usually end up selling it....It's a disease of never having enough and once you get it the thrill of finding it is gone! It's all about the hunt I think?:D

I ma 66 soon to be 67.That being said after 50 years non-stop of Hot Rodding traditional style ive sold everything off except my 31 coupe. I still have a lot of "goodies" piled in my bedroom that needs to go. I live in a condo now,so thats one of the reasons ive peeled it down to 1 car. I will admit the "addiction' is still present with buying parts i dont need, but i am almost "recovered". I find also i am now constantly thinking of ways to improve my 31 coupe , so thats a good thing.

I suffer the consequences something fierce. :( Have a few started, none finished, always looking for more. However, this is the first Summer that I've actually started looking at that 72" tape measure.

I suffer from that too. Besides about 8 car projects I'm making furniture and a custom bike. 5 years ago a wildfire left me pure- no car projects, parts, tools, books or mags. That lasted for about a year and now...

Sometimes I wish I was interested in stamps. It would all fit in a drawer.

I just bought 3 28 A 2-doors a couple of weeks ago. Why, because they were there. Fortunately I buy and sell all the time, so I have gotten over saving every project on the planet. Still have 5 I can't seem to let go though. Trying to get down to only 2 cars. Yeh, right. Pat.

A buddy of mine and I were joking about "Hot rodders anonymous" where all of us who are way out of control would go to work through it. It would probably be a bar, and everyone would be talking about a car they saw in the weeds or a side of a building and how they had to fight the urge to stop and inquire. I can just imagine people bolting out the door going to look for the car their buddy saw. :D

I'm 23 and I only have 3 right now, but 2 are nice and done drivers, and the third has a tentative completion date of no later than next summer. I try to finish cars or sell them before i buy something else. Keeps it in control.
