DITTO!!!! Was the only thing playing in the summer of 1973 during drivers training. Only to do that again!
Lots of props here for Booker T and the MG's. If you still don't know, they were the house band for STAX records, and can be heard on all the old hits by Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Johnny Taylor, the Staple Stingers, and Wilson Pickett (yes, inc. "Mustang Sally"), and many, many, others. They were the true architects of Southern Soul music. (Members were also core to the Blues Brothers Band, BTW.)
"Hibernation" by Ted Nugent, the Live version not the studio cut. "Midnight Rider" - The Allman Bros. "Green M****ishi" - Judas Priest, again the Live version. "Maybelline" as covered by Ted Nugent on an obscure jam recording I found years ago, another Live cut. "Kashmir" - Led Zeppelin "Desert Plains" - Judas Priest "Call Me The Breeze" - Lynyrd Skynyrd "Working Man" - Rush, brings back memories of my '67 GTO. I'm going to see then next Tuesday. "Too Rolling Stoned" - Robin Trower To you guys that listed Robin Trower, I thought I was the only one that listened to him, haven't ripped all my LP's to the PC yet so I haven't been able to listen to him in the car much. Good stuff though!
Today my list of single favorite tunes has changed. Today just about any single of a number of songs from the CLASH would do well. I'd have to back that up with some loud blastings from anything by Oingo Boingo. Too bad my stereo needs to be reprogramed.

Never heard of Booker T & the M.G.'s? Every hear of the song "Green Onions" by them? You HAVE to have heard that at some point... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RDDKZ7PERDk&feature=related
My Favorites (which you already know redcaroutside) Social Distortion - Any and all Reverand Horton Heat - Any and all Brian Setzer - Solo or Stray Cats stuff, but especially like his instrumental work. Junior Brown has the best version of "Hot Rod Lincoln" We also like the Blue Hawaiians when we're cruisin in the cheesey surf wagon....does'nt get any better.
I listen to lotsa stuff on the road, but there are a few songs that'll make me drive like Batman... "We Built This City (on Rock & Roll)" by Starship...it goes LOUD and my foot goes down! Joan Jett's version of "Crimson & Clover", excellent for weaving in and out of Ugly Yuppie SUVs and drooling inbred truckers who clog the Detroit roadways up driving 21mph!! "Flirtin' With Disaster" by Molly Hatchet, another one for dealing with Detroit's horrible freeway situation!
****, theres a loaded question! It all depends on what mood I'm in, Heartbreaker/living loving maid - Led Zepp You can't bring me down - Suicidal Tendencies Green Onions - Booker T & the MG's Barroom Heroes - Dropkick Murpheys the list can, and will, go on forever.

Pretty much anything by Wayne "the train" Han****, this one in particular is Johnny Law http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mperbGpd0mw
At night...in the old Jag...lights from street lamps.. Phil Collins.."In The Air Tonight" But..it's in my head..no tunes except..sbc..Flows..and Pacesetters....
A nice little tune my Dad taught me and my Sis on those long family vacation drives. "Not a God Damn sound!"
No tunes allowed in my hot rod.... except the uncapped V-8! But if I'm in my daily driver then its got to be "Fuel" by Metallica http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lh1ypNyHRmA
"Runnin' Down A Dream" Tom Petty - my favorite road tune. After that anything by Tom Petty, the Eagles or Stevie Ray Vaughn; "Aint't That A Shame" Cheap Trick live, "Born On The Bayou" CCR, "Born To Be Wild" Steppenwolf, "I Can't Drive 55" Sammy Hagar
