  1. have you seen the pic of it on the back of the album? My god that is one slick chevy.. love it!! And if anyone reading this has a chance to see his solo band live do it!! It will be one of the best shows you have ever been to i guarantee it..

By the way i'm really glad someone resurrected this thread.. i was actually thinking of starting the exact same thing when i got off work.. so i log on when i get off and Viola! there it is.. It's so hard to pin it down to a couple songs though isn't it?

  9. Of course, what if you need that extra push over the cliff? The rest all stop at 10 - there's nowhere to go.

"TRANS AM" Sammy Haggar, nobody mentioned.
"15 Days" under the hood, has the greatest line "I been down there so long, my ankles are tanned!"
Did you know Tom Waits "Ol '55" was a Buick Super? Fooled ya!
"Mighty Big Car" was a song I recorded off the Big Myke's Big Guitar Show, but I don't know who did it.
They don't call me 409 Bob for nothing, but I would rather hear my 409 uncorked going through the gears than the song 409. Actually you wouldn't be hearing much anything for a couple of days!
    great lists, folks!

  17. Has anyone mentioned Hawkwind's 'Death Trap' ?

In the back of my neck I can feel a strange sensation
Feels like I'm heading for the crisis of all creation
Only those with 'death wish' understand my situation
Feels like Jesus Christ heading for the stations of the cross,
In my death trap, death trap
Running in my death trap, death trap
Chicken running in my death trap, death trap
Heading for the crossroads of fiery crucifixion
Lighting up the night sky with bitterness distinction
While I hold the wheel of fate, smell of burning friction
I feel like a hero heading for extinction
It's the shell of steel or plastic
Monkey on elastic, going up and down
    Crank shaft cracking up
    Oil pressure going down
    Brake drums blowing out
    Tyres on fire now
    Differential seize up, unbalanced camshaft
    Worn out pistons rings,
    Brake fade, brake fade
    Hydraulic leak out, radiator overheat
Monkey on elastic, going up and down
Shell of steel or plastic, turning round
    Shell of steel or plastic
Monkey on elastic, going up and down

Here's an oddball for ya -

Remember "Upholstery" from the Phantom of the Paradise soundtrack, circa 1973......

These lyrics are just too cool:

    Upholstery
Carburetors man, that's what life is all about
That's what life is all about
That’s what life is all about
That's what life is all about
That’s what life is all about

I was not myself last night
Lost a fight, my woody barely running
By a dude I should have beat
And on the street a blow like that is stunning

    I finally lost control
    And tore my tuck-n-roll
Upholstery - Where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about
Upholstery where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about

Of all life's mysteries the greatest one I've seen
My short runs better when it's clean

I was not myself last night
Ran a light without my registration
Where the cops were bound to see
And you know me already on probation
    I wound up on parole
    I tore my tuck-n-roll
Upholstery - Where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about
Upholstery where my baby sits up close to me
That's supposed to be what our life is all about

  21. Don't know if it qualifies, but I vote for Hank Williams' "Hey, Good Lookin'", the line in the song that says,
"I got a hot rod Ford and a two dollar bill,
And I know a spot right over the hill,
There's soda pop and a dancin' spree,
So if you wanna have fun, come along with me..."

Hot rod lincoln by commander cody and his lost airmen.

I'm building a model a with a bbf 460 from a 68 lincoln. Kind of fits. But i'm young and was actually building the car before i ever heard of the song.

He was also in The Spencer Davis Group. Did the vocals on I'm A Man, Gimme Some Lovin', Keep on Runnin' and others when he was 15 years old. Spencer Davis was one of his schoolteachers.

Did you know the car really exists? It is a Model A with a Lincoln V-12 and belongs to the writer of the song.

"Hot Rod Lincoln" - original version by Charlie Ryan - any subsequent covers just ain't right.

"StickShift" - I think the original version was NOT by "The Duals"

"Big Impala and the little 40 Ford" - this may have been a NW only song - can't remember artist - but it hit the airwaves (albeit briefly) in about 1959/1960. Lot's of NW Bands at the time - could have been any of them.

"Marylou" (she took the keys to my Cadillac car...jumped in my Caddy and she drove afar"
