3 years ago, while leaving the show at Paso Robles on a beautiful sunny day, I was cruising down the prettiest road in America, route 46, when "All Summer Long" by the Beach Boys came on the radio. Perfect song for the moment

I can't believe I forgot Chris Isaak and George Jones. Led Zep and Motorhead are two other frequent flyers.

Older country like Waylon, Johnny, Willy, Hank, and Hank Jr is pretty good to cruise too...

But when ya get past 72nd St and start headin' down, Eazy E comes on, maybe a little Devin The Dude (newer southern rap, pretty laid back, nice flow to it, he's got kind of an old school sound though)

Yep that's my cruisin' music, "Ol' Skool" Country, and some older rap, (newer rap with an old school vibe is cool too)

Gotta start my cruise with Radar Love - Golden Earring. Then play Born to be wild - Steppenwolf.

Call me a bandwagon jumper but to me Rockabilly goes the best with the old cars and cruising.

Tom Petty "Runnin' Down a Dream." Everything else after that depending on mood. I have a folder of MP3's called "Fast Drive" with about 30 in it, and another called "Slow Drive" with about 100. Most of the time I enjoy the exhaust and gear whine sound tracks best. I'm a real ecological nightmare because I don't get in my cars to go anywhere, I just enjoy the therapy that comes from driving alone on a back road.

No music at all, I enjoy the sound of the engine, the tires on the road.

In the case of the open car, the wind wistling thru the windshield posts :)

Hayseed Dixie, Reverend Horton Heat, Split Lip Rayfield. Good road music! I'm tired of rock n roll oldies.

Hotrods don't have radios, or cd players, or cassette tape players, or 8-track cassette players, or phonograph record players.
Customs might probably have them though.

whoo boy...nothing like some street corner harmonies to keep me smiling behind the wheel. when its doowop time you can beat the del vikings, the cadillacs, the chords, the cleftones, the edsels, the stereos, some early shanana,....throw in a little hank ballard and some ray charles with the jackie wilson, dont forget the righteous brothers (latin lupelu gets full speaker popping volume),...who else? Bo Diddley good for cuttin through traffic.

other times its good to have some more modern stuff...but the doowop is where the dial stops. i was lucky enough to get XM in my new truck and 50's on 5 is awesome. out local oldies station plays some 50's,...lots of 60's....too much 70's and even some 80's. no good,...not consistent enough.

and the best part of the classic oldies...i cant tell if its my crappy speakers or the original recordings popping and crackling.

oh yeah...and local favorites kowhoon and the ramblin rowdies....

country music with some punk rock soul
