  3. I have been hearing about this car since I joined the HAMB ten years ago. Never have been able to find the build thread.

My favourite was HambAndys build, and it's for all the people involved as opposed to the car itself and I do love the car. I've been fortunate to meet some of the guys who built the car and proud to call them friends today, finer folks do not exist!

    Hello,

The above 4 are the favorite hot rods and drag cars that have been posted here on the HAMB for me. Each one had an interesting tie in and story. Jack Stewart’s 32 Ford Roadster was the first open roadster ride I ever had and what a ride that was. It was the coolest feeling to have that open air and wind blowing in our hair. The build speaks for itself, as it is one of the best 32’s around.

Lee Bright was the first one I talked to in San Diego to set up a photo shoot for a magazine. He was a wealth of knowledge and the most, friendly person I have ever met. The 28 sedan delivery is what I would have done to a hot rod. It was a well designed and built sedan delivery. Who needs those extra windows?

The Sidewinder race car from Long Beach was close to us growing up. When we saw it in the pits at Lions, instantly, it became our favorite race car there. It was so different than all of the rest of the race cars and the sound was perfect. Then when we saw that it was from the Joe Mailliard Shop, we could not believe our eyes. So, weekly stops at his shop, just a few blocks from our house on the Westside of Long Beach, was a common occurrence.

Little did I know that 58 years later at the Lions Dragstrip museum event, the new/old Sidewinder now owned by Jack Gillett would instantly bring back memories of those good old days with its sleek looks and sound. The Spirit of Lions Dragstrip Museum opening event, countdown Cacklefest

and… finally, thanks to RRUSS here on the HAMB for providing the only action film clip of our 40 Willys when we were running it in B/Gas at Lions in 1960. The rest of his movie was amazing as there were many similarities with our own filming days in 59.

I am still on the search for missing photos of our 40 Willys in the pits and in action. We were always at Lions Dragstrip from April to August in 1960 with one version B/Gas or another C/Gas. Thanks Bob…

Danny, I may be taking the "Featured" part a bit too literally, as "One that Ryan posted as a Feature on the JJ"

With that frame of reference, I am choosing Blake Burwell's chopped 39 convertible.

Ryan posted this around the time when my mind was so consumed with dreams of owning a '40 convert, boat stanced mild custom. This one, while being a '39 Deluxe (and having a cooler top than a '40 convert), knocked me out!

While I still REALLY want to someday have a '40 convertible, and having a pretty firm grasp on what my "style" is, I'm betting it will never wind up as a boat stanced mild custom, but that it would wind up with a raked "hot rod" stance.

  12. One think that is wrong with it....my name isn't on the****le! Thats exactly what I want!
