I,m using the rear out of a 50 ford in my AV8 which has the 5 0n 4.5 pattern. I would like to have the 5 on 5.5 pattern and the additional width from the spacers would help add some clearance of the tires to the bed. Does anyone know who has these and does anyone have some feedback on their use? WHEN MEN WERE MEN AND CARS WERE STEEL
I run S-10 spare wheels on front and Astro van spares on rear of my 5-5.5 Ford stuff on the Bucket. I use billet adaptors to make 'em work. Don't use the cheaper cast adaptors because they tend to be brittle. Any tire store should be able to get them for you.
Those cheapie spacers seem like they'd throw your wheel ***embly way out of balance. They don't seem to have any mechanism for self-centering. I don't get it. I have a couple sets, but I've never put them on a ride because of this concern.
Ifvya ever plan on draggin it ,don't use em -illegal AND dangerous , like said b4 avoid those cast pot metal/alum ones , on the front is fine as long as you keep em TIGHT , lost 2 sets of quater panels to the cheapies 1- thought it was just me not having em tight .sheered off ALL the lug bolts. 2nd- both cracked in half during a tire warm up street draggin out in the country.
IF you get spacers,,, be sure to put in longer wheel STUDS,,,, unless of course,,,you only plan to TRAILER your car everywhere and not drive it,,,, the shop i'm at won't sell them,,,or install them,,, american racing DOES NOT support their use,,,also does NOT sell them anymore because of the safety factor,,, miss ho
I have 2" billet spacers all the way around on my S10, so I could run 96 Camaro wheels. They have been on for 4 years now with no troubles at all. Every spring I inspect and re-torque them just to make sure.
i just bought a pair of wheel adapters to go from 4-1/2" bolt circle on the rear end to 5-1/2" BC wheels from these guys: http://www.motorsport-tech.com/Pages/Intro.html you need adapters , not spacers $110 a pair , made out of 6061 billet aluminum
Where do you work? I worked for Discount Tire for 7 yrs. and we were not permitted to even work on cars that had 'em. I really had to fight to get mine for my bucket.......
I think the place is AIM industres. Try a search on them. They have Spacers, adapters to do virtually anything you want to do. I think they even go to 4" thick. The prices were cheaper that the others and yes, they are billet. Don
Check the link below. I bought a set of 1" spacers for my Ranch Wagon from these guys. They have a billet aluminum base that bolts to the studs on the car with another set of studs mounted offset on the base that your wheels bolt to. All in all a very well built piece. I've had good resuts using these. www.lugnutking@msn.com hmm... link doesn't seem to work here's their phone # 909-376-8011
