So I got my 49 chevy convertible back last month from getting the air ride installed and I went to do the rear brakes and found out I can't get the wheels off. There isn't enough clearance to get the rims off the drums even with the car all the way up. I had to undo the shocks and bags to drop the rear low enough to get them off. Here's some info on the car: 49 chevy convertible 68 camaro rear end triangulated 4-link c-notch. The rims a 1" wider than stock but even with an inch less I don't think they'll clear. Any one have any creative ways to keep from having to pull the suspension apart if I get a flat. Thanks
How about a big hole in the quarter panel, is that creative enough? Let the air out of the tire, jack it up, use the now-flat part to gain wiggle room to get it out. Not gonna be fun to put an aired-up spare back on. How about replacing the wheels with narrow ones? If it's that low, the width doesn't matter as much aesthetically.
Funny the shop that installed the bags didn't mention that little problem, isn't it? You know they had to do the same thing after they realized the tires couldn't be put ON after they did their work, so they disconnected everything dropped it and installed the wheels and tires, then reconnected everything and delivered YOUR nice newly cooled up ride to you! SMILE!! SURPRISE!!! Just curious, did you call and ask what's up with my car yet??!
Yea, my Dad suggested that one. Radius, then make a skirt to fit. I'm thinking about it, but it seems like a lot of work though.
I really don't wan't to deal with them anymore (that's another story for another time) and since I supplied the wheels and tires I already know what the're going to say.
