Customs Wheel Cover Suggestions - ‘53 Merc Custom

Some great ideas in here. Really got the wheels turning, no pun intended. Thanks fellas!

The original ‘53 caps off the car are a little too beat up to run. So may as well change it up. I really do like the Mercury man. For some reason, wasn’t familiar with the ‘54/‘55 Merc. caps. Really like those! I’m thinking some either gold flake or black flake in the middle area.

Chroming the bumpers is a must! They’re on the car to see if they need any changes first.

I think Caddy sombreros are the right answer.

But don't totally reject 4-bar Lancers.


And consider these spiders before you eliminate that option.

 

Just my 2cents worth,if you run the Sombreros, don't run bullets in the middle like everybody else, I used '49 centers in mine and everybody seems to like them...not saying to use '49 centers, but get creative and use anything but the belly button bullets

I really dig the Caddy caps. But they’re just so expensive these days.

Never been a huge lancer cap fan for some reason. Love those spider caps and even have a set. But they’re a little more “tough hot rod” than the Merc is looking to me. I think the ‘54-‘55 Merc caps are going on at this point. Paint the center metal flake black

 

Ended up going with the ‘54 Merc caps. Polished up a set and after running them awhile, don’t think they’re going to get any paint in the center section. Now to get the chrome done…
