Technical Wheel cylinder question

    I have a 9 inch ford that I'm changing the wheel cylinders , it had 15/16 I went to the part store and bought 7/8 will they work in same backing plate? , I'm new here ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1399347428.748476.jpg

  2. As long as the mounting holes and the hose thread and angle are the same it should work. You will get slight reduction on braking force on the smaller wheel cylinders. 15/16 = 0.736 sq inch; and 7/8 = 0.687 sq inch. Or the end result is about 6.7% reduction. So your wheel wheels will be less likely to lock up in panic stop.
