Hot Rods Wheel I.D. ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by coololdcars, Dec 2, 2016.

  1. Anyone have any idea what brand these wheels could be? 15x4 aluminum spindle mount for Ford spindles, 12 spoke. There are no markings on the outside. 20161130_183713.jpg de anywhere.

  2. If they are aluminum they are probably Americans. if they are magnesium they could be Halibrand or American.

    There that'll get you started.

  3. I did the vinegar test on them. Aluminum for sure.

  4. American was making aluminum Spindle mounts in the later '60s and '70s that I know of. The color makes them look more magnesium but tat doesn't mean a thing it could just be my computer.

The length on the hub (see arrow) throws me off a bit. Most that I have played with are the same front and back.

But not to worry one of the real wheel historians will chime in here soon enough.

Hi. Probably totally wrong on this but looks like an inner tube valve stem sticking out of a larger tubeless hole in rim. With that long straight center hub could it be something like a welding machine or generator utility trailer wheel?

Oh hell no, that's just (one) of the standard drag racing spindle mount wheels from the 60's/70's. I don't know the hub differences though, generally Ford or Anglia spindles.
    More than likely Americans.
