Wheel ideas for mild drop '62 Vette with 1.3" whites?

So far I've dropped it one inch in the front, and will probably put 3/4" blocks to drop the back.
I bought 205/75 15 Dimension IV's with 1.3" whites, and am looking for wheels.
So far Radir tri-ribs with cones and unpolished centers are my first choice by far! I think they would look amazing, problem is they are like $265 ea! This thing has already sucked more cash out of me than any lady of extraordinary talent and questionable virtue probably ever could! :p
My second choice is the Supreme with cones, they're not tri-ribs, but they are about half the price and I think they could work?
Any ideas accepted for consideration, cheap and cool are best…<o></o>
The following are already off the list;<o></o>

Cragar SS's
Torq Thrust D's
Wires
Aluminum slots

Thanks,<o></o>

5. Any history on that car? I traded a fawn beige '62, 327 w/forged pistons, Muncie with a short Hurst handle, 3.70 posi, stock caps screwed to 15x7 rallies. Looked just like that pic. 28 years ago. Still have the traded car.

6. That is great looking Vette. It is hard to improve the way it is, but I would go with Torque Thrusts and blackwalls for an alternative look.

That car is worth a fortune, why skimp on the wheels? If you really want Radirs (they would look AWESOME on that 'Vette) then save up and get Radirs.

My thoughts exactly. For what that car is worth (and I'm sure, what you have into it), what's another grand? Eat PB&Js and Macaroni and Cheese for a while and quit paying the kids to mow your lawn.

First off, thanks for the great feedback!
Here's the deal on the car; It's a restored 327/300 glide, a cruiser more than a goer. It's on repro 6.70 15's, look cool, ride like crap on the Gawd awful roads that we have up here.
I'll keep them for anal retentive Corvette type shows, but since I need a second set of wheels for the radials, I thought why not something cooler than those big 'ole bunt-cake pans?
I like poverty caps and chunky black walls, but for this car I want more of a white-wall mild vintage custom look.
Groucho's car is uber cool, but a bit wild for this one. Bob K's is the bomb, we're tuned to the same frequency... I'm also going to try and play with some cut down '59 Cad tail light lenses, ergo my idea for cones on the Radir's or Supremes...

Thanks again and keep the ideas coming, any cool wheel that could have been on a '62 with period whites is good.
Paul

Muttley & El-Cid; you guys 'musta posted when I was replying.
Yea my loins are aching for the Radirs, but it's still in for paint and the bill just keeps climbing...
It would be more like sell the lawn, and have PB&J for lunch and supper! :p

Chrome reverse wheels with redline tires. Early '60s vibe all the way. I don't think anything else would look better. And yes you can get radial redlines.

Mark me down for the chrome reverse with white walls too. You go to Radirs, then you'd have to use cheater slicks and you don't want that. My first Corvette ride was in a fawn beige '61 with red interior fuelie, might have been about '64.

17. I know this is an old thread. But, PLEASE don't do the 59 Cad tailites. Overplayed, lacks imagination. Gay, don't do it. Your car's far too nice, and deserves better. Keep it simple. Less is more, etc. Pick the right wheel/tire combo, lower the rear as you mentioned, and STOP! While i'm rambling. I love Supremes. But not on that car. It's too elegant for Supremes. Step up to the Radirs.

+1 for Groucho's comment.

I find it hard to imagine custom wheels with everything else bone stock, so I suggest a subtle look; get inch-wider wheels all around, plain steel, black painted, with the original (gotta love its classic looks) hub caps. I think the hunkier look to the tire will combine with the mild drop to make it one of those, "Damn, were those cars always that HOT?" moments. (People won't know for sure that anything has been done to it.)

Stock, OK. Torq-Thrusts, OK+.

Radirs or Supremes, lame. Don't do it.

You have a perfect '62 Corvette and you are worried about expensive? If you really want the most bang for your buck you need a set of spiders and small 10" Call Custom trim rings. Going through the HAMB vendors you will spend close to $300- and it will look WAYYYY cool on your stock wheels- and you can switch it back to stock in less than 30 minutes.

You have an already beautiful ride. My compliments. My two cents? Corvettes have competition breeding. If you must go with something other than those original hubcaps I would recommend a wheel that does not compete with the classic lines of that body yet have a competition flavor. If you could find them nothing would beat an original set of Hursts. Failing that, there are several Halibrand slot look-alikes out there as well as the new American Torqthrusts. Either would look terriffic. Please share pics when you have made your decision.

The first set of straight laced Dayton wires I ever saw were on a Vette, (a '63 roadster, but still,) and it looked awesome with them.

Why do you want to change from the stock caps?
Just to piss off every "restorer" who sees your car?
If so, don't bother.
Your typical hotrodder won't care what you run on it because they don't seem to be into Vettes like they were in the actual day of the hotrod.
If you are actually going to race it, put some competitive race wheels and tires on it for the race and switch back to the stockers after.
It'll need a roll bar first though...

26. Ever heared of Minilite wheels, there a circuit racer kind of wheel and would look the nuts on an your early 'vette,or some halibrands with fat rubber?
