Wheel Identification Help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ChevyII_Luke, Apr 26, 2011.

  1. I need some help identifying a set of wheels that my dad brought home a couple years back but first I will tell the story of how we acquired these rims. About ten years my dad went to a local garage sale a couple blocks down from where we live. The garage sale was put on by an old man in about his 70’s according to my dad. The wheels were leaning up against his garage and my dad asked the old man what they were and how much he wanted. The old man replied with I don’t know much about them and I’m not really sure what I want to do with them. My dad just let it go and went to look at the rest of the stuff he had for sale. After about 10 minutes of looking around my dad went to leave and as he approached his truck the old guy was loading the rims in the back. He said just take them I’ll never use them.

Know the wheels are a ford bolt pattern and the centers are riveted to the bell housing. I have taken some pictures of the writing on the inside they say Hollywood. So what I want is someone to tell me how old they are? And are they somewhat rare because I’ve never seen them before?

can't tell ya much anything about them, but there was a pair at the Portland Swap Meet this year... 15 x ~6, and did say Hollywood Wheeldisc inside.

Hollywood Wheel Disc made (aftermarket, i think) wheel covers like caddy sombreros (sp?)

  3. did a quick search, only found 1 other pic of those style wheels (on ford msucle forum). seems that hollywood whel disc manily made hub caps(nica ones at that. got a pic of an original wheel cover box tho

  4. They resemble American Racing Torq-Thrust "M" wheels,like those on '65 A/FX Mopars. Hmmm...

they're just 'hollywood' wheels, check the "rare wheels" thread or the los boulevardos board too see some other examples.

how many do you have? 15 inch wheels are even harder to find...

  6. We only have two and there both 15's. I think they would look cool on the back of my dads model a. They look like they were maby chromed at one time.

Those are pretty damn rare, hang on to them. I believe they were made in the early 70's, but not sure. I just know they're difficult to come by! Very cool :)
