Have any pics of pinstripes on steel wheels? Soon I'll be ditching my hubcaps for some newly painted steel wheels. My 55 is an odd dark red / ivory color combo so I am painting the wheels a (close) matching red. I thought ivory pinstipes would be cool. I'll probably run baby moons but I'm not sure. If it matters, the fronts will be stock 15X5's and the rears will be GM 15X7's. I plan to turn the whitewalls in for now, maybe go with wide whites when my bank account allows it.
Just between you and me, if you're going to run blackwalls I think your car would look much better if you painted the wheels to match the Ivory color, with dark red pinstripes, rather than the dark red with Ivory stripes. Trust me on this. On the other hand, if you're definitely going to get wide whites, then go red on the wheels because wide whites look odd on off-white wheels. (There was a guy near here with a black '51 Chevy with ivory wheels and blackwalls and it looked beautiful. Then he got wide whites and it's just too much white. Looks odd.)
