    Hey guys, dumb question but...

On steel wheels like the one pictured - is this a chrome wheel that has been painted and the 'lip' (where a dog dish hubcap would snap on) has been masked off?

Or - is this a regular steel wheel and that lip has been polished or some sort of cover has been installed on it?

Kinda doing a little bit of wheel shopping this Winter for an all stock '55 Chevy with just air ride. Not sure if I want to go chrome or body colored w/spiders.

Thanks, and take it easy on me.

That moment when it all makes sense….

I may even be able to use these with my stock wheel if it fits the humps, I’ll def look in to that - thanks!

don't feel bad...I had no idea such a thing existed, and I've been paying attention to wheels for decades.

  8. Called Spider caps for the center, the inner trim ring is another accessory.

When they first came out the trim ring that clipped to the hub cap notches were included. With some chrome rims not having them they became separate quickly. I remember seeing my first set on a painted wheels that were frosted….in 1960 at a local speed shop/ parts house in Inglewood.
