The '55 Plymouth goes into Soncy Road to have custom rear wheel wells made next week. One of the previous owners hacked 'em out. I have looked at going back stock and going larger to accomidate larger rear wheels. Then again this is an oppurtunity to do something very cool!

ANy ideas, comments or wisecrack would be appreciated!

That car looks kool cept the wheels ,but that may be a personal preference.I think the car would look better real real low with either steels + caps or just some nice fifties style covers. As for the wheel wells if you stick to a nice narrowish tyre with wide white walls and keep the black you wont go far wrong also a 2 inch roof chop would finish it.By the way i would keep the black..........my penneths worth ..........Marq

If you are thinking t hat you might add more mea to the back then get you wells made deep. If you are going to run normal street tires then have some put in like the origionals.

Radman, I thought youwere talking about the SHAPE of the wheel openings. If so, try to duplicate the shape of the ones on the front. If you want more tire on the back, then you can still use the same shaped wheel opening as the front, but bigger. If you were going more kustom, you could re-proportion the shape so that it is the same horizontal size, but not go as high up on the fender.

Those front fenders have a pretty cool lip around them. It would be a subtle thing to dupe it onto the rear fenders, but waaaayyyy koooooool!

Another thought: Play with that body line that comes off the rear of the fender near the taillight. Bring it forward to mimick the angle of the "hoods" on the headlights. Use the same shape opening for the wheel, but the flare can echo other shapes on the car. Then chop th etop and lean the B-pillar to the same angle as the front of the car!

nice car, one of my favorites

the big three sure came out with some clean designs in '55

for me though the wheel wells can only be done two ways,

    stock with NO skirt

    or radiused with racing meat

Donzi, I like the look of duplicating the front lip. Thanks for the pic.

Uptown, those wheels and covers are a cool option.

The car has been lowered 3" all around since the above pic. I would love to chop it maybe 2" front 2.5" rear but I dont dare get near it with a sawsall! Now if I can talk Soncy Road into choppin it I'm golden!

Look at the back of a vw bus-- kinda like skirts, and you can buy the sheetmetal pretty cheap new.

Mini-tub? Cool.Resto the opening's.Mark Warwick will help you, too. An 8 3/4 rear can be narrowed 1"+ and re-spline the stock axle's.Move the leave spring's in and bigger tire is your's.Neat car dude.
