The customer stopped in today to look at his truck and we talked about wheels/tires. Truck has an early gen bronco 9 inch. He wants to keep the factory style wheel and I agree. My question is without having the fenders here or the box mounted I can only rely on old pics I have. It had roller F-1 wheels/tires on it and it does appear to have some room for the tire to go out. I found some 16x6 wheels, they have the same back spacing as the F-1 wheels. I hate to order them and have a rub issue. My question is what have you guys done when keeping the 16” wheel? Tires are going to be 7.50
Many pickup trucks had 5” wheels around that time or shortly thereafter. They have “ the original style” like ‘40 Ford wheels. I have a pair on the rear of my coupe running 7:50 16s. They are out there but getting pricey.
I measured and laid out mine with bed and fenders off the frame, also with an early Bronco rear. Bed sides are 46” at the widest point, fender is 12” 1/2 Bed width + 1/2 fender width = C/L of wheel. C/L of wheel in to WMS = back space . Rearend could have been wider to center the tire in the fender. I ended up with a 7” wide wheel but had to use a 1” spacer. Backspace I needed wasn’t available in repro. Wheel is 15x7 genie style from Summit.
