So I've been doing a lot of research since I got my 53' Ford Mainline 4 door, trying to figure out the best way to get a safe reliable street cruiser out of it on a budget. At first, I thought I'd just keep everything the way it is and put a modern drive line in it and fix the brakes, wiring, etc. Recently I came across a 1988 Lincoln Town car. The body is beat up pretty bad but it's mechanically sound otherwise. So the idea here -if you haven't already guessed- is to marry the two, Lincoln chassis and Mainline body. I've researched this idea a little, the wheelbases from one to the other are very close, but the chassis needs to be shortened 2", no big deal. What I'm having trouble finding is the track width between the two. Does anyone out there know the track dimensions or have any experience putting a modern chassis under a 53 four door?
