Has anyone got the specs on a Dakota? Found one without engine and trans I could get RIGHT...Thinking about putting an older model truck body on the frame.. a '48 - '54 Chevy truck. Anyone ever done this? I know these have been done using a lwb S-10 frame...just wondering if anyone had used a Dakota frame.

track width is 61 inches, if it is a pre 97 dakota, on the wide side for the early chevs, but it will fit. dont know on the wheelbase. Have fun! not an easy swap the easy route would be to use one of the aftermarket front crossmembers from IC, and bolt all those parts onto the stock frame. you could even use the rearend also.

it seems to hold true that the best frame for a vehicle is the one it came from the factory with!

Mike according to my owners manual the 3.9 liter powered Dakota is rated for 5,000 lbs. towing weight.
