Could you get re-popped '32 stainless steel inserts in the late '50's? When did they start showing up? I'm leaning towards a steel insert but bugs/chipping makes me think stainless might be better for a driver. Terry
I was told by a guy who owned a 32 in the mid 50's that they were available then. He even showed me a picture of his 32 with no crank hole in the insert and stated that it was a stainless insert. Picture was from 1955
many had the bars removed that went to the crank hole & a donor grill donated the bars to be holeless. i would buy a stainless insert reguardless as you can always paint the bars, and then remove the paint later if it gets all chipped up & end up with a different look.
