Think about this: 1962 price of battery was around 25 bucks, gas was 27 cents a gallon and a car was about 2,500 bucks. skip forward to now and those prices are about 10 times higher now as is same with wages. So the price is not that out of line thanks to inflation.

As we've all heard batteries are all made by 2-3 companies. What difference does it make who's name is on the side of it?

I have a Buick that has the battery under the back seat; it has two little vents built into the top so you can put vent hoses on it. The price is $40.00 more that the same battery with out the extra vents.

The industry consolidated to only a couple of manufacturers, so competition decreased significantly.

Also, metal market price rises from a few years ago have never been readjusted by the manufacturers now that lead market prices have normalized somewhat.
