Hot Rods When did people start chroming the 9" rear end?

The Ford 9" rear was introduced in 1957, and hot rodders immediately recognized it's strength and ease of swapping out the 3rd member. But when did they start showing up as chromed show pieces? I think of it as more a 60's thing, but it could certainly have started in the late 50's. Any old magazine collectors, or guys that were there know?

    Thanks RS.

Anyone have any old pics from the late 50's of hot rods with chromed rears?
