Lead paint aint gonna hurt you. You graduated from high school and college already havent you?.......Just drink plenty of beer.

Hell, Gene Winfield lived to 97, Im sure he sucked in plenty of lead paint dust

I remember as a infant chewing on a window sil that was painted with lead paint . Tasty
I have several colors cans of old One Shot paint with lead. It covers way better than the new lead free crap

For many, yes, but for others, no.

    What percentage was from lead?

  4. And Sam Barris, doing the same thing, died at 43 what's your point? Both antidotal points that prove nothing.

Says the guy who just quoted the results of occupational levels of exposure. I agree with whoever said the average hobbyist is fine as long as they don't snort it.

I'd have to say that you take what precautions you feel work for you and yours and call it good.

You fucked me up! One of my unfiltered free shots to someone is, "Damn, did you eat a lotta paint chips as a kid?" Now I can't drop it here. Wait, I just did. WTF...o_O

There is no safe level of lead exposure. Any amount does damage.

You oldsters have already been exposed to far more that you are aware.

Why gamble that the "extra" is enough to tip the scales?

I used a test at home lead kit made by 3M. The results returned with no lead which I was surprised.

Everyone is different. Just because one person was left unharmed does not mean it will not harm another. Better to be safe.

Long term exposure to lots of things can have numerous negative effects on the body.
Long term exposure to LIFE can have numerous negative effects on the body.
In the OP's situation with the paint dust, best to err on the side of caution, without diving into total paranoia.

Besides lead what else is in old autobody paint that can harm. I'm running into filler also.

Bondo has talc in it. It’s safe enough for a baby’s bottom.

But talc contains asbestos. Living life will kill you. No need to be afraid of it though, just do like you would with your girlfriend and take precautions.

hard to say among folks who live in modern society. All the old folks got exposed to lead from car exhaust for decades...

I thought about heading off this exact comment. Just because you can measure something statistically doesn't mean it's actually meaningful to any individual.

In any case it's safer and far less likely to many anyone go postal than having to share a society with the kind of people who get bent out of shape over incidental hobby grade exposure to the kinds of things that are so mildly harmful you need study after study after study to quantify just how mildly harmful they are in small doses.

I'm not gonna give up beer or red meat either since that's probably your next question.

Because if we listened to every twat who told us to care about something we'd have no time or money left to do the things we actually want to do.

I get that in the communist utopia of some people's minds other people's time and money doesn't have value and is unlimited but in reality it very much is and at some point tradeoffs have to be made. A basic mask and work procedure that avoids superfluous dust is good enough for most hobbyists.

The red meat will help with exposure to lead. Don't give that up!

Will if they used copper bullets instead of lead bullets it would be alot safer.

  28. You only have to worry about it if you live in California because everything in California causes cancer, it's ok everywhere else..

    Larry

Edit: driving is also safe until it's not.

I think the fact that you're reduced to such absurd comparisons speaks for itself.
