when you pronounce the 'HAMB' out loud, do you.....

i dont rally know what i call it, cus ive never said it out loud before, i guess i will say HAM

 

most often I say "Jalopy Journal" otherwise its "ham"

 

I say.... a big hot rod forum on the internet, and wait for them to say....That Ham thing you mean?

A LOT of people know of it, just have never looked....

But I do say "HAM"

There is no way to say it without getting a wierd look from the other person.

HAMB is pronounced ham-bay, in the same way that Robert Williams pronounces the word coupe, coo-pay.

I say "ham", well I do when I'm sober. Few beers, coupla shots and my Ark-lahoma starts showing and it becomes "haym". or something.

 

Seems like my tongue can't put the B at the end of HAMB.....kinda like dumb, lamb and others I'm too tired to think of right now.

 

I usually say it a few times and then have to spell it out so the person can understand a little bit of what Im trying to say.

I thought the same thing for a long time. Then I realized I just coudn't read. I feel stupid.

 

It's like French... the "B" is silent unless the next word starts with a vowel.

Observe:
"Dammit, will you please get off the HAMB, we are going to be late again. You can get back on the HAMB after we get home tonight."
The first instance would be pronounced "get off the HAM, we are going..."
The second instance would be pronounced "back on the HAM B'after we get home..."


Or maybe that's just my wife.
