whenever I think Im on track with projects,or at least have my mind made up,I just have to go to the storage where everything else is "out of sight, out of mind" and I am brought back to the reality of what a dumbass ive been, thinking Ill live for ever and have all the cars I drag home done someday...Theres at least 5 T's in here and my 59 camino that is being neglected for 6 years or so...Anyone else know where Im coming from?

Yep - story of my life....

  3. Yes, but I finally realized this past year that I just won't live long enough to finish all that I have been collecting over the years and have started culling the herd. I have gotten rid of 5 so far this year and intend to get rid of some more. Of course I refuse to acknowledge the fact that I added 2...

  4. I've been coming to the same conclusions. Sucks, don't it?

No I have no idea what you are trying to tell us. Even after selling many cars and my favorite Harley panhead I have one 1939 Ford, one 1941 Ford, one and a half 1946 Mercury coupes, a 1950 Studebaker, a 1948 Chevy panel truck, a 1955 Chevy wagon, and a 1969 UltraVan Corvair powered RV. The 41 Ford and 55 Chevy wagon were the only cars running and being used. But even those are in various pieces now.
    WTF were we thinking?
As time marches on, I do less and less and slowly forget where I left off with each project. I know what each is worth, or at least think I do. The reason I haven't sold some cars and parts is the other collectors think my stuff should be practically given to them. Yet I see parts cars and bodies selling for nearly as much as I want for cars that could be put on the road for a few hundred bucks.
Okay, I don't have a few hundred bucks or the ambition to get them running anymore. I'd rather sit here and play with my computer and stare out the window dreaming.
My kids are gonna have a shit fit getting rid of this stuff. I think I'll just take it with me!

    Yes, but...

I thought I had too many projects, so I sold a car last winter. Now I think I'm beginning to regret it.

But you should definatly pick one and stick with it and try not to look at the others for a while. :D

Ive sold several in the last few years also, but these damn computers are full of other peoples projects that always SEEM to better than what I already have,so like others,I sell four, pay some bills,or put some into a keeper, then immediately look for something else that looks like a great start, sometimes its not bad,I like the ones where the guy has collected two of everything to build his car of his dreams, and just got lost and is ready to sell. Then I bring stuff home and pile it on top of the car I should be working on,makes no sense, but it does make me feel smarter for a few weeks...

I have one AD torn down in my garage, and am trying to convince my wife to let me buy another one right now.

5 Ts? I'd gladly take one off your hands!

I know how you feel.. My problem is not enough room. I've got my A project in the garage at home and then I've got an AD truck to finish after that and enough parts in storage to start a flathead hot rod with the exception of a flathead/'40-up trans and a body..

watch Hoarders tv show those people have problems, you just came accross some good deals to good to pass up.

  12. Common sickness if we may call it that. I too have come to the realization that I may never get all these projects done while still maintaining some sort of life values. Toss in a few health related issues and that horizon seems to be getting higher each day. Starting to sell some of my stuff now and making some holes.
However, you should see the nice 58 283 I just got this week..................

You guys are sick ! ;) We haven't watched TV since it went digital. Here in the boonies the only other way to watch TV is with a satelite dish. I have one too many already for this crappy internet. TV won't work thru the trees with a digital converter so we just unplugged the 60" TV years ago.
But while visiting our kids this summer I got addicted to that Hoarder show, porn---Pawn Stars, and the one where the two guys ride around looking in barns and sheds for junk. Made me realize I'm almost sane. It's amazing the crap people collect and just stash away.
I've always thought I was normal because most of my friends have pole buildings, garages, and sheds filled with car stuff.
Now that I am playing here on this HAMB site I know I am among good company. We can't get shots or pills for this addiction but I believe it keeps us fairly healthy and able to communicate in the real world.
Some take up golf, tennis, other sports, boating, and biking. Some jog or run, swim and go camping. All hobbies cost money and make people happy.
Every day I think about the mess of crap I have piled in the garage and shed. My wife has been hinting about painting the old Mercury flathead engine out back gold and using it as my tombstone. Hopefully not this week!

Since we obviously don't live far apart, we will take this into consideration.
Can you chop wood, mend the wooden horse fence, wash pick up trucks and cars, change oil, put on siding, mow grass, massage my feet, cook, clean, wash clothes and dishes, sew my socks and fruit-of-the-looms?
Also you will be expected to finish one of my car projects every six months and listen to my wife blabber while I play on this HAMB site.

Your darn right about that, I'm not done yet...

  25. We all must remember to remind our kids and heirs often just how valuable all this stuff is and that it isn't junk. I have seen situations where the kids either sell off valuable cars dirt cheap or even scrap them because of their ignorance of the hobby. All my kids turned out to be car people so I think they understand.

After you finish your own projects gimme a holler. You've got enough to keep yourself busy for awhile and still listen to your wife blabber.

I think we are always one step ahead of our selves. The only one I have right now is a 54 chevy pickup. What I really need as a 31 or older ford that would complete my life until I had one then it would be something else. I would be a expensive rug rat.
