Mines still original except for the B engine that was in it when I bought it. Very solid and all there. Doing engine work on it. It needed full pressure and its getting it. Iceman

  8. Heres mine. '28 chassis, a '28 door, not sure on the cowl, and the running gear is '29.

Gotta mix and match em just to build the damn things over here.

  11. That's gotta be the first space cab truck i've ever seen that looks not only like a factory option, but just looks awesome in general. Great job mate. Have you got a build thread on it?

Nick, sorry i didn't do a build thread or take many pics during the build. Maybe I bit was concerened on how it would look until I got it done! Some of the details are as follows.
The cab is chopped 4-1/2", lengthened 4" with chopped and narrowed '27 T coupe quarter windows. The doors on '28-'29 closed cab trucks are the same as '26-'27 T coupe doors so the quarter windows have the same profile as the doors. I made the cab corners 4" longer, welded in the quarter windows and riveted the cab corner side to the cab corner back for a little different look. The bed ls shortened 8 inches. Chassis was built from scratch by me with a 5" drop axle, ford Bronco rear axle, 59A flathead and s-10 5 speed.
Next on the list is to make the top, visor, a rolled pan in the back and a patch panel on the bottom of the passenger door. Oh and do the interior before next summer. Paint on the body will probably have to wait till after next summer. Roupe

maybe I see them more because I own one. Mine is a highboy coupe. and to be even more odd, it has a '28 grille shell and is on A rails.

1928-29 model A's are still my favorite. I've got my '28 truck but some day I still want a '28-'29 coupe and maybe a roadster too! I like the narrowness in the cowl, that gives them that distinct look.

I know of a 2 coupes out here that are (or can be) projects. Although I'm not a huge 28/29 coupe fan I'll probably rescue one of them that my buddy has.

I think there is something to this, especially when it comes to roadsters. I've been told by several old timers who used to race at El Mirage and so on back in the 40s and 50s that 28-29s where vastly prefered due to the narrower cowl front profile giving the car a - supposive- aerodynamic advantage.

Sounds plausible. Looking at old race pictures, it seems to be pretty much the case.
