Technical Where are the 53-55 F-100 guys?

  1. I'm so tired of buying repro parts that at first glance look fine then you start with the install only to find out they are only close,, sorta. Now understand I've gotten anal in my Old Age plus I've slowed way down so I hate it when going backwards or excepting 50% is part of the Game. Through the course of time I have bought miles of repro rubber parts, some fair most kind of close. To the point, 53-55 F-100 Vent window seals. Henry made Molded rubber that actually fit the lower corner of the door frame and the part itself was very involved. 25 years ago I bought a pair that had the shoulder, holes and lips like the stock ones but were not molded for the corner. This led to a gap and extremely poor seal as well as wind whistle. I don't remember who's they are. I'm shopping again and of course go to the big two for Ford. Drake does not show a photo and no description. Carpenter shows one and is explicit on the description saying Exact to stock. Now, I've bought that from them already with so so results. Who out here has Carpenter Vent Window seals on there Truck now and will post up photos of them installed. If Carpenter is not the place to go for satisfaction who then?

  2. You might try Steele Products..I've used them before and their quality has been good.
I have not used them for '53-'55 F100 though.

  3. I was just looking at Steel products. I have bought parts from them. At least the photo of the part is laying close to the correct shape. I've found there rubber to be a lot softer and in some places that works out for the better, it also lets is shrink and dry out in just a few years unlike other suppliers parts. It's always a Crap Shoot.
Anyone out there with Steel vent window seals in there Truck?

Mike, I used Drake on my COE, the installer is quite anal, he was happy with them. IMG_0839.JPG IMG_2026.JPG

  6. Marty; Does the rubber lay flat to the painted surface in the lower corner as well as flat against the Vent glass frame in the same place. In other words a molded lower corner not just pulled around the Radi? Can you get a close up photo of the actual fit and post it for me? What I see in the top photo looks good but kind of hard to see detail

  7. treb11 Thanks for the overall photos. Lot's to look at there but what I'm looking for specifically is close up photos inside and outside of how new reproduction rubbers actually "Seal" against both the Body as well as the actual glass frame when the glass is in closed position.
