Just moved here, lovin' it so far.
Taking the 40 in for exhaust today.

 

Yeah, and 4x4 season is about here.
A few more days, a little rain . . . lots to do out here.

For the most part, the wide open spaces are still wide open.

 

thats so true...our "winter" is about over (100degree plus) now the good 9 month weather is about here.....runs,fun and cool enough to work in the shop.....now we got a run or three every weekend till may....and if we want snow all we gotta do is drive north

Big car show in TUCSON this Saturday, at St. Gregory's on Craycroft. Starts at 10am, I'll be there in the '50 Burb.

Show's been advertised on TV and actually promoted heavy. Expecting 500+ cars.

Plan on a HAMB meet-N-greet at 2pm in front of the Burb! I'll be in a HAMB shirt of some kind.

Count me in of course for the Sinners Show... Expecting 50 plus cars not promoted.. hahaha... Got a message from one of the Yuma Ghouls and they are trying to make it up to PHOENIX. Should be good times..

here since '49. Hasn't changed much, just got bigger.

NW Phoenix, Surprise actually. Way out by the Loop 303 and Bell.

I'll be at the Sinner's Show for sure!! Just finished changing out the main jets and installing a fresh set of plugs on my Flatty.

 

NW PHOENIX by HAPPY VALLEY RD and I17, been here since 95, the winters are nice but if i could talk the wife into it id be back on the east coast, i really miss the green and the ocean and family.

 

Let me figure this one out. It takes time with my old memory.
Lived in Mesa for the last 31 years.
Lived in Tucson before that. Also lived in Parker, Tolleson, Bowie, Willcox and Douglas.
Total time in AZ: 57 years.
My folks moved me here in 1951 when I was almost 4.
My wife has me beat though. She is a THIRD generation Arizona girl.

I will try to make the Sinners show depending how I feel. I've been sick the last two weeks.

Who remembers the old Tucson Dragway on Houghton Road? Watched Fischer-Greth run both the original roadster and the rail there in the 60's.

 

You bet I remember, Lyle used to let us use the strip to do our jetting during the week back in '65

 

Didn’t the strip in Tucson get shut down because the owner was flying drugs in using the drag strip as his private landing strip?

 

one of my first jobs as a kid was sweepin the stands,I grew up aabout 5 blocks from Lyle and went to school with little lyle

 

That's the way I heard it. Anyone remember the strip at Davis Monthan before that and Marana before that? How about the illegal drags on the Moumt Lemmon cutoff?

I'm from Tucson. Only 18 but I hear about the illegal drags all the time. Where is the mount lemon cut off. I'm out my Catalina Hwy, was it out there?

 

IF I remember it is the Mt Lemon Short Rd now..becomes Soldier Trail (used to be Old Soldiers Trail Rd). I have lived near there since 1975..

 

Lived here in Tucson all my 43 years , sure are alot of you up north Glad its October, good driven weather is finally here!!
